6 figure income and a 5 figure lifestyle

Now that I'm making good money, I can't seem to justify spending huge amounts of it on frivolous endeavors... so what is the drive to spend so much cash... why not live simply and save and know you've got life taken care of for a long time.... do you want the 100K car for yourself, or just to show off?

heheh actually I'm going to put a bunch of $$ into my 65 galaxie which I've owned for 15 years.... new disc brakes, upgraded electronics, pretty much modernizing it.. but it'll still cost nothing compared to what I would spend on some fancy new thing, and it'll be some hot shit (already is, actually)

Excellent!

My daughter just turned 15 and right before her birthday I bought a red Chevy Tracker. Once it gets warm enough so that I'll actually go outdoors, we'll be pimping that little truck up and painting it baby blue. Think it'll make a good 16th birthday present for her.

yea ya know I've been looking at property and I'm looking more for land and a nice yard than the house itself.

Around here there are all these super high end houses, but they're all ass end up against each other... I think that if you spend that kind of money on a house, you should have lots of yard space. I'm thinking of going south around between Bradenton and Ft. Meyers into hick land where I can get some acreage

You only live once, so do what you like to do and fuck what anyone says or thinks about it

If you like a $100k car, then go for it. But dont do it just to show off to friends because they arent important enough for that, and if you fell on your ass, none of them would help pick you up.

But of course whatever you buy, post pics so we can see

Personally an expensive car doesn't really interest me, though it is not because of the price. I prefer things such as jetski's, speed boats, motobikes, go karts/dune buggies and shit like that. Makes for a fun life.

Nothing wrong with being sensible.
On the other hand, there's everything wrong with pissing it all away and having nothing in the future. You never know when things can change.

I'd say first things first - set yourself up a retirement fund, invest in a nice house with land (they're not making any more land you know), and then do what you please with the rest. Save it, spend it, whatever... just make sure you take care of the basics first. Everything else comes after.

I guess you don't live where I do. It happens, but not very often. I live in a little suburban house outside of Toronto, and my daughter is going to have a sweet little Chevy Tracker. Chopped, dropped and baby blue. Unfortunately for her, the engine will be 100% stock. Dad's rules.

When I got my license - waaay back in 1979 - mom gave me a '76 Plymouth Duster. Ok, in 76 they had the weak 360 and it was a few years after the muscle car era, but that car was sweet and I miss it every day.

She'll have the same memories of her first car as I did and, no, she won't get jacked. Not here, anyway.

Are you talking about some crash that he had? Or the drugs? Anyway, I don't do drugs, and I have been riding trail bikes since I was a poor 13 yr old boy. Used to take a day off school with the boys, and take our bikes down to the local bushland...

I have become addicted to doing shit like this now, and anything with speed, etc involved gives me a rush. I have broken my leg once on a trail bike, but even if it leads to the death of me I wouldn't stop - I enjoy it too much.

I think this is a smart way to live. Most people are doing the reverse. I think most people are stocking up on stuff to impress others, rather than please themselves. If you want it, and can afford it, by all means - buy it! But don't buy it just because you think you're supposed to.

And if this is the first time you've had money - you cannot even begin to imagine how quickly it can go away.

The title of this thread sounds like a country song chorus

Seriously, save your dough, invest in yourself. If you go broke do you think humanity will come to your rescue?

Make enough money where spending $80,000 on a new porsche 911 is just spending a few months interest payments. Thats how the rich people do it, they spend their interest, they can splurge on expensive things cause it don't matter, interest payments are free money.
If you know your business is going well you can splurge every 6-12 months, its ok to live life, don't have to live like a pauper (the extreme)
