Hey@! Help me structure my pricing system for my Fitness Site! (complex)

Alright guys I've spoken with a few experienced people about this and ultimately they become mind boggled about it as well...

Basically, I don't want to get too in depth as far as what my service is, but it's an online fitness service.

I want to have 2 versions of this service. One will be a normal internet version where random internet users can signup and use it for say $9.99 a month.

The other is going to be a service that I sell to gyms, from which they can offer their own personalized version to their members for a little bit cheaper.

How exactly should I go about charging gyms for this? The gyms will obviously want to MAKE money from it... So what would I do?

One problem I see is the members of the internet version paying $9.99 will feel ripped off when members of a gym are paying less for the same service...

It's all pretty mind boggling, solutions???

Why should the normal users know that gym users are paying less? There's really not much point in a gym offering it for less. Have the gym charge whatever they want but still charge them at least a $7 wholesale rate.. dont get too cheap.

the gyms should be happy they can provide a service to their members... which would probably go well with marketting on their own end and retention on their end (man im thinking porn biz hehe)

well thats a problem.. the gym version can't be more than the internet version... because of this gets really big (which i'm planning on)... the gym members will know theres an internet version that sells for cheaper... and won't pay $12 a month when they could pay just $9.99 a month.

well... theres a problem with that one as well... maybe not... if the gym paid me say $5 for every membership.... then the people from the internet version will be upset knowing that they're paying $9.99 a month and some people who are using the service aren't paying at all to use the service..

Bull shit.

First off, fuck the at home users. They're at home paying $10 monthly while Bob is paying $5 monthly plus gym fees. They can cry elsewhere.

Second, just pawn it off as a special deal given to gyms. Thats how business is done, deals are made. It's no big deal. Nobody will care, if they do, screw 'em.

I have to agree with you Sly!

Sure the home users are paying $10 for it. But their not paying the extra $20-$50 dollars for the gym fees! Since their paying the gym fees, they get the discount, plain and simple!

When you do a business deal with a gym of course their gonna get it at a wholesale price, it's just like everyother business works! You get everything when you buy wholesale, but a normal customer won't have too/need too buy a wholesale account!

Plus when you do a wholesale account, the wholesale account might be $1000 after all the members or what not! So they are getting the deal over the wholesale account, IMHO.

well, i imagine 90% of the internet members are members of a gym. which could be a good thing, they could mention to the gym that they need this service because they have to pay $10 internet fee cause their particular gym doesn't have it.

Here are my opinions on this..

I would recommend you letting the gym offer this to their members, completely up to them how much they charge or if they even charge at all. You offer the gym price breaks based on how many users they send your way.

Charge them say $8 each for 1-19 users. $7 each for 20-49 users.. etc. Maybe a few hundred dollar a month fee to the gym to even be able to offer this to their members. The normal internet users... doesnt matter if they know they can get it at a gym for cheaper. They also have to buy a whole gym membership. You see people giving away a toaster for opening a bank account, but that doesnt mean people dont buy toasters anymore because they can get one free at the bank.

I had more to say but im too stoned to remember.

we could either do 1 of 2 things...

charge the gym say $1.50 for every member that attends the gym (regardless of whether or not they use the service), and the gym can choose to charge however much they want per user.. so the gym could make a ton back.

OR

the gym would act as affiliates for bodygain, giving each member the option to choose between 2 different account types of bodygain... one being for $6.99 or so, and it'd be a LIMITED account where the user would only be able to interact with the members of the gym.. the other option being a fully ulimited version for $9.99 or $10.99 which gives them ability to interact with everyone around the world. and regardless of which account the user chooses, the gym would make 50% recurring.

what do you guys think?

GS, remember that the majority of gyms out there are very large chains that have been enjoying making money from recurring memberships for the past 3 decades. They would much rather make their own site that is tailor made than sublease a site. Focus on your basic site and perfect it first before you jump into that pool of sharks.
