By far the measuring stick of Flash Web Design!

Yes, and I agree with stevecore, I don't believe there is anything special about those sites. It's all about microscopic fonts, silly twirling animations and background art stolen from corbis.com.

Yeah really, by the time anything loaded, I already shut down the browser, and this is after skipping the intro.

Technique is good but too much fancy shit, not enough substance imho

You don't look at these sites for substance ... pure Eye Candy.

HighOnAcid, they are all good, but the competition is getting so fierce that we have all been forced to become 31337 flash critics.

Like we could do better.

That's like saying a plane doesn't have to fly as long as it looks good, however we're all entitled to our opinions no? After all, that's what he asked for I thought?

That's kindof true in the sense that both of those sites are advertising graphics and flash design. They overloaded them with flash animations in order to show off what they can do as far as design, not practicality.

If an airplane dealer is trying to sell his plane then chances are he/she is going to go balls out on designing/detailing because the initial look is what's going to catch the potential buyer's attention. After they intice interest, they get down to the nuts and bolts.

Here's a good use of Flash

http://www.eccentris.com/splash.htm

Navigation is intuitive, you don't have to skip lunch looking for a link to click, clean design and attractive content. Simple is always better, less is more as they say.

Thanks Acid!

Those sites are fucking awesome!!! Very inspiring. Yet as a potential customer I wouldn't hire them because the intros are so outstanding my first assumption is they'd be too expensive to hire.
