Should we help out NEWBIES ?

With the economy here in the US being as bad as it is, and countless amounts of people losing their regular 9-5 jobs, many folks are staying at home and somehow end up becoming "adult industry newbies" trying to make a quick buck..

1. Are the wave of newbies cutting into our profits and must we offer no help at all to them? Do we kick them while they're down to secure our own bottom line?

2. Or do we offer help, have them sign up as affiliates under us, guide them and keep them under your wing having them generate referral revenue for you but being careful never to reveal your secrets to them for fear they may become a direct competitor in the future.

3. Or just be kind and generous and assist them with their every need in the hopes that they may become the next millionaire and will return the favor years later?

I just had my first $100 week, so I don't consider myself a newbe any longer. So I say... FUCKEM!!!

Seriously, I think this may be a nice thread. There will be those that help, those that tell you to fuck off, and those that will give you adice just to throw you into a crazy loop.

Also there are other boards that actually give out some helpful info, the differance is that here the info is a lot better, but it takes a lot of reading between the lines to comprehend.

My adice to anyone, newbe or not, is to eat up the big boys transfer cost. Simple as that. (Talk about reading between the lines)

Second sentence was a good thought, but how was a newbe able fuck you over? With respect to your GFY born on date, I am curious.

I don't thing there is much of a middle grown in this biz.
So many variables needed to succeed. Besides the book and classroom general knowlegde, (html, flash, design etc.) there is so much unwritten and mislead info such as, traffic, SE's, tricks, and a 100 other etcs that a simple bone here and there will not provide competition that should make you worry.
This is a tough gig not for the weak at heart.
Never mind the balls needed to ask a girl to spread her legs for you.

I had a couple of beers...sorry

Because litigation is pending,i can't go into details.Other than,a new webmaster took over a paysite that has been online since 1997.Agreements were made between us regarding a percentage of ownership of the site. Those agreements have been violated.

My motto:

Help the newbie if they are willing to do what it takes to succeed.

Not to get all Karma on yer asses, but what comes around goes around...you help some newbie and someone else will come along and help you. To quote Happy Gilmore "what comes around, goes around....all good things" ;)

Seriously, I've been an adult webmaster for 8 years...and yesterday's newbie is today's big boy. So help out where you can without allowing it to take away the time needed for your own shiznit.

And by all means, don't EVER be anyone's bitch!

The basics are all pretty much laid out there now for newbies coming into the biz to find. So many tutorials, articles, free hosting, free content etc from sponsors.

If they can't get going with all that is made available to them and make some money to reinvest there is no hope for them anyway imho.

I believe a lot of times a newbie will ask stupid questions because they are to lazy to look it up for themselves.

Perhaps this is why they lost that 9-5 and are looking to the adult industry to make a quick buck.

I've tried to help a few but they pretty much all end up the same.

Newbie: how do i find a good sponsor?
Doc911: do a search for adult webmaster resources. It should give you a few websites to browse through.
Newbie: thats no help at all.

I mean I could have told him to search google for "sponsors"

everyone is always a n00b forever. there are only people who know different things better. there is no one person who knows everything. so in all of your years of experience i bet you find out new things every day. what would happen if someone didnt wanna teach you something new. you would go someplace else til you learned it. and maybe you just lost out on a new biz opportunity because you didnt wanna help someone

When I got into this business, I didn't ask anyone for help. I taught myself html, I don't myself about search engines, I taught myself about traffic generation. Too many people want you to give them all the answers. Fuck em. And fuck the people that give them those answers. There's no work ethic in this business anymore.

Also a good point. I started in this biz in 96, some will remember X-pics (ha memories, 25 cents per click, Newsgroups, etc..)

It seams that everything is easy now, free this, free that ...

BTW, did somebody heard about Mario Carmona latelly ?

But I do agree on one thing, more webmaters, more business, there is so many porn surfer out there, i do believe there is a place for everyone who wants to move traffic...

The only thing you stand to lose by helping someone is possibly patience. Some people are just dense and/or lazy. Otherwise you stand to gain a business partner, good friend or resource.

I actually appreciated the post a while back about doing the gallerys. He offered 10 dollars for each 25 gallery's. Thats 20-30 dollars an hour for someone to sit at home and "WORK". Even if you tottaly fucked off, you could make 10 bucks an hour.

Thats the kinda help a newbie needs.

If he came into this business thinking he was going to be doing anything else, he needs to go back to McDonalds and beg for his job back.

Thats where we all started even if we didn't work for the man. We got our own content, bought or free from affiliate programs. We made our own gallerys; some for TGP's, some for free sites, more for AVS's. And then we prayed. and if nothing happened we did it again and again.

At least offering them a sweet deal like that teaches them how to do it and "guaranty's" a cash flow.

Personally, I'd rather find things out for myself. I expect to have my sites completely up by March 15th, and I think when I get my first check it'll be a lot better than if someone took me by the hand and showed me what to do. I spent the last few months reading up at resource sites, and just now I feel I'm ready to give the biz a serious shot. The most "help" I get is when people post here about sponsors or traffic brokers that scam their customers.

I can't help but laugh when someone posts a thread like "I need movie sponsors!". If you're too lazy to find your own damn sponsor, how are you ever gonna make money with them? And... I think I've hit the line limit for the attention span of the board population, so here's where I stop.

I voted for the second option. It's not my exact opinion, but it's the closest.

I've become very wary of helping newbies. It's cost me a lot of wasted time, I have masses of unproductive referrals. Lately my attitude is more to only help people that allready know something, so that we can supplement each other's knowledge...in some areas I'm still very much a newbie myself, in others I consider myself an expert.

Most folks who are willing to do the research are worth helping. It can be overwhelming to know what to read and where to find it. The signal-to-noise ratio is pretty intense and the noise reads a lot like the signal.

That said...there are a lot of newbies who ignore every bit of advice they're given and all but demand to be hand-held every step of the way. They can...well, go fuck themselves.

I know the notorious "bumped threads" aren't well-liked around here - I hate them too - but it's amusing to see some of the folks who now claim to be hardened veterans behaving like, well, newbies.

I've only been at this for less than three years. I consider myself a newbie. A seasoned newbie, but still. I'm far from being above asking for help, and I will remember those who help me, and I will remember those who don't.

Just my

That's one way to look at it, but as you gain more experience, you may learn that the people asking these types of questions are the ones who HAVE done the research, and are tired of reading hype, and want their peers' opinions. Not always, but often.

My added to yours. Now we have 4!

Of course you should help newbies.. where would we all be without them? The newbies promote our affiliate programs, they buy content, they do all the work that we used to do when we were new..

Then there's the Kharma thing... my happiness depends on how I affect others, so helping out a newbie is something I do all the time, and it's paid off for me in many ways, I have a network of friends where all I have to do is ask and they'll do just about anything for me..

There is no such thing as an unselfish act, so I won't claim I do it out of the goodness of my heart.. I do it for me.. so I feel good.. and when I feel good, I work good.. it just makes sense to me

Are you serious? Damn big ballin now man, you'll be one of the big boys in a matter of days!! Seriously, $100 week? I guess we all gotta start somewhere Least ur not doing what most n00bs do, and scream for joy when they get a $20 check from ccbill.
