Can you please name me all of these AVS systems that have gone down? AdultCheck didn't have to go down, they were just restructuring and fucking everyone on rebills.

ProAdult, Cyberage, FNP, SitePass, SexKey, CyberSex and many more are up and haven't shut down, maybe you should learn more about AVS.

Sure those AVS are still operating but few link lists seem to be listing AVS sites anymore.

God Digi I can't even remember them right now and probably couldn't even after a good night's rest. The 'restructuring' you're speaking of cut out the majority of the webmasters that those AVS's had, and one or two have even been accused of "stealing rebills" because of the way they kicked the webmasters out and "restructured".

I *do* know about AVS, I've done the AVS game and thinking about doing it again - the only thing is the only AVS I think that might still be here in 6mo is ProAdult and with rumors of new Visa/MC rules coming out next month, even that is shaky.

I wonder if Visa will come in here and smack us for even using the term "AVS" since you're not even allowed to do that anymore. :winkwink:

Steve, to be honest, there were very few link lists that sent much traffic. 10% sent 90% of the traffic IMHO.

sounds to me like you are lumping all AVS's into AC. That isn't the case. Just because a couple AVS's interpreted things the way they did, and made the changes the way they felt they needed to, does not mean that all AVS's are going to fail.

It is all about knowing how to adapt.

Who are "those" AVSs? The only people who got cut out were AC webmasters, and that didn't have squat to do with Visa. That was AC giving everyone the shaft and keeping all the rebills for themselves. All of the other AVSs are business as usual.

A few really small ones may have disappeared, but other than changing some wording and scripts, the rest are all the same. Nobody else has been kicking people out or accused of stealing rebills.

I pretty much told her the same thing and you've quoted her response and told her the same thing I did. She's apparently not so knowledgable about AVS, but hey everyone can pretend to be someone on here.

And to address Carrie's issue, VISA is going to fuck the whole industry not just AVS companies and I feel confident that some AVS systems are better prepared than the rest of the biz personally.

I actually went cruising around a few AVS message boards tonight to see how the landscape looked and honestly it looks bleak. Complaining of bad ratios, wondering about shaving etc is nothing new, but these places just looked... dead.

Although Gleem did give AB a good plug, which was pretty surprising.

Maybe you should read more then and get your stories figured out. The world is different when you step outside of the Serge's homeland.

I said right up front that I *used* to play the AVS game. Haven't done it in about a year. Things started going south, I got out. From the looks of the boards I visited (AI, AVSLounge, AVSFriendly, one other that I forget) it looks like the crop of AVS webmasters has slimmed down greatly. Which would be great for the ones still in there, more traffic for them. :thumbsup

Only problem with Gleems board is it is slanted to his advertisers..
so it loses quite a bit of credibility...

AVS isnt dead..its just something you have to be wary of, just like you should with every affiliate program..and under no circumstances should you do recurring based anything..

if you dont believe me..wait for these visa fines in the next 3-5 months..and unless you have access to their entire statistics to see they are in fact under 1%..you should not do recurring based...in my opinion of course..cause if they lose processing..remember...YOUR REBILLS GO WITH IT..

I do realize that, and saw the huge half-page ad on the front of the site.
The last time I was actively visiting the AVS boards though, AB had a reputation of having a lot of content in their "free webmaster area" that ...well... wasn't theirs.
So I was surprised to see them being promoted. It hit me that things must've really changed.

So c'mon guys. Be real. I'm voicing the concerns of a lot of webmasters here who are wary now of AVS.
Rather than poo-pooing my concerns and my time out of the AVS game, sell me on it... convince me that AVS is still a good thing.

I mean, to the folks doing TGP2, it's still going strong and looks great from the inside looking out. But to those outside looking in... know what I mean?

All the AVS boards are like that and have been for over the last year. Especially if you're used to big boards that move fast. It's just a smaller/tighter crowd. I don't do it anymore except for the occasional gay site, but the ones who got in early, have lots of rebills, and good connections with some of the owners, are still doing pretty good with it.

*But*, if I had a single girl site, I'd be all over it. They're missing out on excellent upsales. The members traffic is gold and not a bunch of freeloaders. Just a few softcore pics for the AVS site, upsell their paysite on the inside, and link it to a paysite tour with the more "hardcore" stuff, but all blurred/starred out. The ones who say they're not into it, or don't know how, are all making galleries. Just put two gallery pages in a members folder, make a quick front page, stick up the script, and you're done. Easy.

I would prefer you guys all stay out of AVS because it's doing so horribly.

Carrie, trust me when I say that SPP is in a lot better shape than it was a year ago, or even last month. Every month is better than the one before.

I will say that if you are relying on our link list to provide your signups, you will probably be waiting a long time. If you take a proactive stance and promote your sites the same as you would your paysite, you will get checks twice a month.
