the truth

psyko514 02-17-2004 09:50 PM

Salomon said Thrasher used to be one of his best friends--"He was at one of my weddings."--but that he should have guessed something was up the night Pamela Anderson (news) and celebrity photographer David LaChappelle stopped by his house for a visit.

"They were watching it [the Paris Hilton video], and he [Thrasher] was reciting the words," Salomon said. "I remember looking at him, going, 'How does this kid know my tape so well?'"

The Anderson screening aside, Salomon said he didn't make it a habit of publicly screening the tape ("I probably showed it a couple times in my whole life.") He said he made an exception for Anderson because of her own well-documented camcorder experience.

the truth

I wonder who is putting their money behind this guy? Someone in the adult industry, maybe?

jonesy 02-17-2004 10:54 PM

Rick Salomon is fucked.

he better hope that site made money so he can afford his heavy weight lawyers because the upcoming onslaught from the just as heavy hilton lawyers is going to be brutal.

I think salomons lawyers will concentrate on sites that charge/charged to watch the video. they wont waste time on sites that are non profit.

this one is definitly going to blow up huge in the media.

lock 02-17-2004 11:12 PM

Paris sues Rick, Rick sues someone else.
The whole situaltion put her on the map i am sure she wouldnt be making tv shows if the popularity stakes hadnt risen from the video. Dont wanna be on a porn site simple dont do a porno.

cool1g 02-18-2004 01:03 AM

best part of that yahoo.com article from the AVN guy...

Without citing specific numbers, Salomon said that response has indeed been giant and that he's ready to promote the site "full blast," including outing himself as the tape supplier.

"All's I know [is], I got the rights. It's my video. I shot it. I own it. My camera. My video," said Salomon, who, for the record, shot said footage with "some Sony" digital camcorder.

The film is illegal for him to sell, it involves pornography and uinless Paris explicitly signs off on it that she will allow it to be shown, his selling it isnt even legal according to US Federal Law.

If she HAS signed off on it and is a silent partner... heh I dont know what to tell you then...

But Ive already stuck it into my Kazaa Lite folder, I took all 5 parts and joined them, so its one big moves, last I checked I had a little over 200 downloads of it.

If I got one of those letters, Id certified mail them back and tell them you want a Deposition of Witness, it is a court writ that must have EVERY SINGLE actor or actress in ANY movie either show in court or have a certified letter stating to the fact that they were an actor or actress in a movie.

Funny thing is, if Paris of course doesnt sign it, then when this goes to court, the judge will see that and know this guy has a stoeln video with no legal holdings over it.

Dveron 02-18-2004 01:26 AM

I don't see how he is going to get away with it unless he has come to some sort of agreement with Hilton. The whois info pretty much makes me doubt he has though.

First off, she's drinkin in the video! And she was underage, it wouldn't be legal anyways, even if it was signed off! She was drinking right outta a wine bottle!

I suppose a phone call to them from my lawyer to ask what they claim my involvement is would be the next step. I checked my bandwidth usage and nothing appears out of the ordinary, so I don't think anyone hacked me as a download site. Oh well, fun shit.

I wouldnt get too worried. I get about one of these letters a month I have only been hauled into federal court on copyright charges six times so far. Most of the time these letters are empty threats that they have no intention of carrying out. Sometime they'll even send you a second, nastier letter intended to convey that thier serious. Most of the time this is just a rouse.

In one such case - this one dipshit sent me several letters. I knew he was full of shit or I would have had a process server at my door by the time the third one arrived.

I decided to be a pain in the ass and I fired a letter back threatening to sue the attorney and his client for harrasment, duress, mental anguish, etc. if he didnt sue me within 30 days. About three days later, a letter arrived by FedEx Overnight indicating that they were "closing the file on this mater".

Just reply back the lawyer saying the letter was recived (and nothing else). Dont deny the allegations or make any mention of them.

4CNote 02-18-2004 07:09 AM

D$,

Of course it's Rick's tape and his doing. What's your point?

Rick's not going to hire KB for any PR if that is where your headed.

EvaPharmacy 02-18-2004 07:36 AM

huh....

SoundMan 02-18-2004 07:41 AM

thought Atherton made all the Paris money ?

SomeCreep 02-18-2004 07:44 AM

Take a shit, wipe your ass with that letter, and mail it back to them.

4CNote 02-18-2004 08:25 AM

probably not. Look the guy owns the tape and PornKings and a bunch of other people tried to profit off stolen copies of it.

You must not know Paul Berra very well.

Jakez 02-18-2004 10:59 PM

Another whois info report sent.

And I also got an email with the same exact information posted in the fax.

fuck that letter you recieved. it does not mean shit.

whatever you do, do NOT reply to them at all. simply ignore them.

chances are, they wont do anything. and if they do - THEN get a lawyer. otherwise, dont waste your money on one now, report them to icann, and go about having your online adventure with paris.

america online used to hassle me for a while, and my attorney said not to say a word to them....just let them send me email after email...lol all that happened was that i lost a domain - no court case, just an naf dispute - however they sent a similar letter and 75 pages worth of evidence to my attorney. funny shit.

You are a fool if you think he won't end up with the money from this regardless of what happens.

KCat 02-19-2004 01:03 AM

I saw an interview with him on some entertainment show tonight. He was bragging about trustfundgirls.com & said flat out that he had no agreement with Paris, but that the site was operating out of 17 different countries. He basically dared them to try & shut it down.

Big boost for the DRM industry anyways. :glugglug

One of the reasons why i never d/l'ed it in the 1st place.

Brujah 02-19-2004 02:20 AM

Isn't it ironic. He was Cameron Diaz' lawyer in a case where a private session was ruled that Cameron had a right to privacy of her own body.

tony286 03-01-2004 09:00 AM

How can you legally promote something that is illegal? He doesnt have a model release on Paris or 2257, this is something that is illegal that they have no true rights to and there is no age verification. You know shit like this makes it easier for the justice dept to fuck with all of us but I forgot noone thinks past today.lol

Lev 03-01-2004 09:20 AM

at least they could of got a better design for the site, the site looks like shit

deleteduser 03-01-2004 09:27 AM

this thing is just too huge.
selling the tape on the internet prolly is a smart step for this guy. this will get out of control - 100% - every tgp will list galleries with samples from the tape! and when paris starts suing he probably can't be made responsible for the entire damage that his programm caused, so he can get out of this with probably alot of money. :2 cents:

Jeff aka NIGHTfall 03-01-2004 11:10 PM

i demand a direct link to the full video for proof that it is hosted on the site.

i find it amusing how people always say "get a good lawyer" - i mean, no offence, but did you expect him to go get a bad lawyer? :winkwink:
