PHP is better.

Perl is old school.

PHP was designed to generate dynamic web content. Perl was designed to do everything.

Unfortunately, using perl with the web is a hack, and very clumsily implemented.

Php is overall better. normially you have to use sql when you use anything using databases, which I hate with a passion.

I do both professionally, they each have the uses.

PHP is much better for fast, easy builds like websites.

Perl is much better for complex scripts which need a lot of complex functionality which can be used through 3rd party libraries (CPAN).
