who here has a FEAR of REJECTION and FAILURE?

Fear of rejection is the only that stops a person from scoring chciks be it at a club/bar or at the supermarket. Fear of failure is what causes procrastination and leads you away from taking a risk in a new venture. Without risk you cannot get the big payout.

Whats the point here?

Once you get the fear of rejection and failure out of your train of thought it will lead you to get what you want in life....

Easier said than done. Cant be done overnight . You have to reinforce the "I dont give a fuck attitude" into your subconscious till it sinks in. Also you have to get out of the normal routine and such and change your mental attiude.

You know what... I don't give a fuck!

For real though, juicy is right. I used to have the "fear". Couple years ago I decided I just don't give a fuck anymore. And it works.

Grow some balls and be yourself. Forget about what "might" or "could" happen. What happens, happens. Live it up!

I used to have a fear of rejection but after the 10,000 time of getting slapped, kicked in the nuts and laughed at, you just get used to it and all is ok. I barely feel the kicks anymore.

Actually fear of rejection is the same thing as fear of failure, but on a slightly less complicated level.

As for who suffers from these fears, most people do, but generally men do so more than women. This might be due to the fact that male dominated environments are more 'competitive' than female dominated ones, men always tend to 'race' against each other. Some do so for the pleasure of competing (and winning), some others (most, actually) do so just to prove to themselves (more) and to the rest of the world (less) that they are good at what they do. But in all competitions, most people are 'losers', i.e. there's only one winner. So given this fact, people are afraid of being losers, which very often causes them to refrain from competing altogether. This, in turn, extends to all the other aspects of their lives, everybody knows that losing isn't a lot of fun.

The 'I don't give a fuck' attitude is very helpful towards dealing with your fear of failure, but that isn't easily achieved. Something that I discovered works for me is that, every time there's a possibility of failure (always), I ask myself what's the worst that could happen. I line up different bad outcomes and then sit down and think about how to solve them, in case they happen. This generates different 'what if' scenarios, and possible courses of action, should those scenarios happen. And once you know that there's a solution to your problem, no matter how bad the outcome of your actions is, then you can worry less and put more energy into making sure that you don't fail in the first place.

Most people don't realize that failure isn't really that bad. We're only humans and we make mistakes, ALL of us do. What matters is being able to get up, after being down, and starting all over again, instead of staying down and dwelling in failure, starting feeling sorry for yourself. Regardless of where you choose to spend the rest of your life, life will go on, with or without you.

You and juicy have very wise words. Not being a male though I can't say whether fear of failure or rejection is worse than in males. If that was the case females wouldn't suffer from eating disorders and boob implants would be unheard of. Women have tough critics and no one likes rejection. Single women sometimes have no choice but to "grow some balls" when they have a family to raise all by themselves. Men dominate in the business world though and that is a very highly competitive market.

As time goes on, the expectations of what it takes to "make it" goes up for both men and women. In the 50's "making it" meant the family had a car, any car. Now you have to have more than one and what kind of cars they are determine what you have accomplished. Houses get bigger, vacations get more exotic, everything is just super-sized. We feel more and more pressure and hence have to take more risk to try and succeed, but be damned if they don't keep raising the bar.

The one thing I learned is that even in worse case scenerios, you don't die, you just have to start over.....and starting over, while a bitch, is possible..sometimes it makes you stronger for round two. We are always are own worst enemy and the "i don't give a fuck" attitude generally means is "I DO give a fuck! That is why I'm willing to risk it all"

This is where the 'I don't give a fuck' attitude should come in. The question should be 'Am I happy with my life, as it is?' If the answer is yes, then you shouldn't give a fuck about OTHERS being happy with YOUR life. People will always have opinions about what you should be like, how you should dress, what you should eat, what you should do... So fuck'em! It's YOUR life, make it the best for YOU, not for others.

Well, everybody gives a fuck, no matter how much they wanna make you believe otherwise. The only problem is, as I stated above, that people give a fuck for the wrong reasons. There's a lot of peer pressure going on in all environments, male or female dominated, and both genders could really use growing some balls at most times. Being social and accepted by your peers is good, but if that results in making you miserable because of constant fear of not being accepted, then I don't think it's worth it. But that is my opinion, so take it for what it is. Be the judge of your own actions/environment and determine what's best for you. Sometimes that best may well involve others' best as well, some times not. In life, there are only two things that you HAVE to do. You have to choose, and you have to die. Ultimately it's your actions, and not others', that determine what your life will be like.

Those are perfectly natural fears. Its how one deals with them that makes all the difference in the world.

Kinda both. Not that great at the first one but I definitely have been good at the latter. Have a banner in my office that says Failure is Not an Option. Great motivator.
