    I think I'm going to buy a horse.

    But I have never done anything like this before.
    I know you need 5% down, but what are the steps involved. Are there any really good online resources?

    I'd go to the bank but they waste my time... because I'm too newb to know what they are talking about.

    Any help is mucho appreciated..

                                                                          Get a friend that knows a lot about horses and ask him for help. It's really easy to get fucked. My father owns 12 horses and I know it's not that easy to find a good horse for a reasonable price.

                                                                                                      Here most people wont sell you a horse unless you pay for all of it. Keep in mind that you need to pay for boarding, food, shots, horseshoeing etc.

                                                                                                      My advice would be do what we did, and visit some boarding stables in your area. See what they charge, look around and pick their brain. See what you can get for your money, how nice the people are. Here the stable we are looking at everyone goes in and buys the meds online and we split the costs, saves everyone a lot of money. Also don't forget about things like mortality insurance to cover the cost, and saddles, pads etc. A good saddle alone is around $700-1200.

                                                                                                          Depends on the breed. Much like cars, you have your Ford Escort and your Ferarri.... Huge range of prices. They are a LOT of work, but great to have.... I had a few when I was growing up.

                                                                                                                          OK, if it IS a horse, then talk to people in your area. Spend at least 6 months getting to know who is good and who is bad. Wig with WTS has horses and mules he and his wife buy, sell, show all the time.

                                                                                                                          Now, if you're really talking about a HOUSE, then don't put 5% down, put down 20% so you don't have to pay PMI and getting a good mortgage company and realtor are the 90% of the solution, IMHO.

                                                                                                                                          Actually horsemeat has been on the menu in europe for a very very long time, and oftentimes it's used as a cheap substitute for beef. It's not just for dogs or glue. Personally being an avid horseperson I wouldn't eat it, but to each his own. I don't begrudge people their survival.

                                                                                                                                                  Damn, I've never seen it on a menu here in the states. After growing up with a horse I know I would never eat it either. I do remeber my Mom saying when the horse was getting older she wanted to make sure it didn't get slaughtered and processed like that.
