I know what you mean, I would be uncomfortable approaching a strange girl on the street or in a public place and asking them to model for me.

I havent really got into the content production side of this biz but if I ever decided to I believe my wife would be my top recruiter. I'm sure lots of guys in the biz use their girls or wives as the initial contact with a potential model.

most girls would be more inclined to trust a woman who says they've modeled for you and its a totally safe and professional experience rather than some strange guy coming up to them and saying the exact same thing. If you were a woman who would you trust?

The problem with being in this industry is that you lose track of the perspective of those not in it. 99.999% of the girls out there would be abhorred at the thought of actually doing porn work. More if you were talking unrealistic sums, which some think of when they first contact you.

Don't bother trying to approach people you see on the street, malls, etc., that's a waste of your time, and you'll just get in trouble.

Advertise on job sites (paper, Internet, etc.), hang out at photography forums (be careful, anything outright will get you banned), once you start getting models, ask them to refer others. Unlike what many people think, most strippers are not interested in having their photo taken, they're probably going to college and want a decent career when they graduate - having your hiring manager recognize you from some website won't facilitate this.

There are actually instruction videos out there describing how to go about doing this. I think the first one was called bus stop tales. It was shot by a small man carrying a video camera. He approached girls who stood at bus stops and taped the conversation as well. So if you see these videos you can learn how to do it.

Then several others did the same thing. Approaching girls while filming with a video cam, that is. I think someone called Buttman, and someone called Dover also did this.

You should find those ol videos and have a look. Very instructive.
