I knew I was skipping college to do my own thing all along. Caught hell from most teachers / family for it though.

People should go to college when they are ready to go to college. After high school, most should just travel instead of college. But, it's a good thing that young, hot people go to college or we wouldn't have a site.

Ditto.

My grandpa still gives me crap about it. I'm waiting for him to realize that my rent is more than his mortgage.

Dude, I don't know where your gramps lives... but my rent is more then my dad's mortgage. Renting in our area is more expensive than buying in our area... and well more expencive then renting most anywhere else!

I am doing a BBA in biz. I will probably never work for someone else but its always good to hang a good degree on your wall.

School is not worth the time but its also not worthless.

Now law is something that could always come in handy.

I forgot about all the recruiters I pissed off as well. I shouldn't have put any effort into the asfab test.

Got a degree in History from UC Berkeley.

The pot and shrooms alone made the degree worth it

Perfectly fine, but I don't quite see what you're getting at. Me and Sly live in about the same area, and my only point was that unless you move to san fran, san jose, or new york city, i can't really think of anywhere that would be more expensive then renting in san diego. other then where i was before... and that's renting in rich-bitch-ville

I'm getting at the fact that he was just saying he makes more money working for himself than he would had he gone through college and taken a job. Rent is higher than a mortgage just about anywhere.

college teaches you how to think and research in an organized manner, which has been invaluable to me even though I've never really used my degree for anything.

College life is awesome, but school and the degree have been a waste of time/money for me. Been out for a bit over a year now. Still live in a college town, so I still get the college atmosphere withouth all the school shit.

College teaches you how to get a job.

Out of all the people I know with degrees...none of them make shit for money and wasted alot of time and now spending the best years of their lives repaying the debt they incured while in school.

im a computer science/psychology major with a minor in some shit i will never use. my first year of programming on the very first day i my professor came into the class and read how many tech jobs will be going overseas. sucks to have a teacher basically say your throwing money away.

the most important lesson that i have learned while being in college(not done yet) is the fact that college is nothing more than a business. makes money every year no matter if the economy sucks or not.

i laugh at my classmates who actually think that because they are getting straight A's that they will be successful. the second most important lesson that i have learned while being in college is that only i have the ability to open the doors that i want to go through, not some bullshit degrees. the main reason i am still here is so i will not have to hear my parents complaining about not being able to finish school.

If you own your own business, college is pretty much useless. You'll learn more about running a business, by doing it and other people, than you would ever learn in school.

I will make more bank than them when they are out of college

the opposite. Normal scares me.

College is useful for a few things and I have been exposed to some interesting shit I wouldnt have been otherwise, the only real thing that gets to me is paying $25K a year for it. I could invest that money so much better elsewhere, if this shit was free then I wouldn't have any gripes with it.

My degrees weren't a complete waste, as they do hold some value, but I think they are for many. Most kids would do far better learning a trade skill than forking out big bucks for a BA in Communications, Sociology or Political Science. The college/university system is a giant money making machine, exerting pressure on parents everywhere to "pony up" or else watch your child bag groceries for life. The culture in the US is such that everyone who possibly can, should go to college. Bah! I know many, many people with happy and successful lives in the trades. That is not to say education is important, it just doesn't have to be obtained from a traditional institution. The life experiences learned from living far away from home were far more valuable than my undergraduate degree.

Big waste of money.. that's for sure. I guess it was a waste of time, but I still enjoyed it and learned a lot.

It's just that I'm not doing anything even remotely close to what I studied for.

I was going for a double major in Comp. Sci & EBM. ( Executive Business Management), dropped out to start working in the field at 17. And that was that, I'll go back to school when I can write it off.

I have found that all three of the degrees I accumulated are of value to me today. This did not occur to me right away though. I felt like college was a waste of my time when I first got out. The more I think about it and find myself using what I learned, the more I can appreciate why I was there to begin with!

I feel college was a valuable experience. It also gives me something to fall back on if the bottom ever falls out of this industry.

I think she means you learn how to use your brain to problem solve. I'm not saying that having a degree means you can do this but on average you're better off than someone who does not have one.

No, that's just what colleges tell you so you keep paying them in reality you just learn how to cut corners and pass.

I just declared my major today actually so I'll be studying Finance, but I already pissed away 2 years learning science stuff. Mostly I think college is good to learn the stuff you'd never think to figure out on your own.

My uncle once told me College just teaches you how to work for someone else.

I guess that kind of stuck with me, because I never felt the need to go. I think now I would enjoy going to take some courses but I don't think I'd spend the time to get a degree.

I came close to going to school for a degree in computer animation, a few years ago. But Instead I took a shorter course and I really enjoyed it. I realized that even though it was something I really enjoyed, I don't think it is what I'd want to do every day as it's very tedious stuff.

Other than computer animation (which was not a big thing when I got out of HS) there isn't really anything I can think of, that I'd want to get a degree in.

So I just stick to doing my own thing
