What's in a buisness name?

When you picked the name for your business what goals did you try to achieve? What did you want to express? Is the business name important? Did you follow guidelines when picking the name?

You should write a book of questions.

I picked a name I liked, generic enough to expand into other types of business.

Every name I pick is something I find easy to say and remember but not an every day word. Branding is a real concept and can build loyalty and trust. In this business its trust from both customers and fellow webmasters/site owners that can make and break you. Using a brandable name can help facilitate building trust.

Keyword based names (and yes, I understand your talking about business names not domain names but it still applies) do not have the same professional feel as a brandable name.

Well thats IMHO anyway.

I think whenever I am naming something its always the third iteration that I come up with a name I like. Its almost impossible for me to name something right off the bat with a name I like no matter how much time I spend thinking of one originally. I think thats because after some time you get a better sense of what it is that you are doing and you have name ideas that are much more in tune with the actual image of your product, company, whatever.
