The guy who wrote the article is comparing "general blind link clicks" with "sponsors free hosted gallery clicks".

When you send 1,000 visitors to the blind link sponsor, you make $X.

But to get 1,000 clicks on the free hosted gallery links will take at least 10,000 visitors (10% CTR - not very common to get).
