Pay Site Sign Ups

Does anyone have any info on what percentage of surfers will sign up to a trial period on a pay site rather than the full month membership. Also what percentage of surfers will get rebilled?

I'm starting a paysite and would like to know what I'm getting into. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

With no prior experience in paysites, you're probably looking at a 1:3000 ratio for trials and 10% converting to monthly. If you have your own exclusive content and/or quite a few grand to spend on content and design, you may be able to do better. And of course this begs the question, why would anyone in their right mind start a paysite now?

"Why start a Pay Site now"
Why not?
I would rather promote my own site rather than someone elses. Yes I do have several thousand for content.

Thanks!

Those conversion ratio´s are not entirely true. I ran a paysite for a while back in January. I had a ratios of around 1:800 and we didn´t have an exceptional site. The good thing about youre own paysite is that you can control every piece of the marketing proces without having to rely on a third party.

Ok.
Time for big tips.

1. Own paysite - good if design is ok at least. New paysites for a month or so will convert like heaven.

2. Money for content is bullshit in comparison what You will need to promote Your partnership programm.

3. The convertion of trial to month membership depends a fucking lot on price of trial and month membership. If You trial is extremely cheap (i.e. 1.95, 2.95) You will get 90% of trials or so and almost no month memberships , neither trials to month or month straight away memberships. That is if Your content is not exceptionally good. If it is that good , i.e. You can really compete with main sites (take any of Your competitors) than make a trial as cheap as possible.

If however You cant compete really, than make trial expensive (7$ for example) and month membership not so expensive (30$ for example, 24.99 for example).
The fact of the trial membership existance on Your site will make surfer beleive that You are quite serious. The fact that it's expensive will lead them to beleive that Your site is very good. The fact that month membership is on other hand NOT so expensive will convince some of them to go right to the month membership without loosing money on trials.

However if Your content with such technologies used will be WORSE than average or simply too average You are putting Yourself in a great risk of chargebacks.

And remember. This is real a tip. It is contrary and different to what most will say and most books will teach You. However if You do what most people do You'll earn exactly the same amount of money most people do..
