Did I say either of those things? No.

As for your misconceptions on technical matters, I'm having an even harder time taking you seriously since you seem to not be able to use a search engine either.

Yeay... your a better cocky smartass than me. I will never support mac, no matter how much it SHIFTS over to being like a PC (wich is all the "advances" in mac systems have been)

AS for your misconceptions on how there are BENEFEITS to using a mac, you must not have the slightest clue of how to build/maintain a PC system.

When it comes to the core componets theres little to NO competition and that = higher prices.

I don't know about your stats but across all my servers I've never come across data that showed more than 5-7% mac users..... I guess these poeple have jsut never heard of apple computeres or they all would have switched by now.

The fact that people come here with thier arguments about how macs can do this now and macs can do that now..... PCs have always been able to do these things. Appple computers provide nothing more than what could be accomplished at the same (or lower) price with a properly built PC.

If all you need is video authoring or photoediting and you feel like wasting a bunch of money.... go for it. Or you could jsut go to somone who knows how to buld a PC and get a real computer.

JunkyardDog 02-05-2004 11:33 PM

My next desktop will be a Mac without question.

I hear nothing but great things and my friends that have them love them.

Mac users will be disappointed to see that this new Dell machine, while priced $629 less than the Mac Dual G4 1.25 GHz machine, was nearly twice as fast on most of the nine benchmarks we ran.

it is quite obvious that you cannot read and comprehend. please go reread my post. I didn't knock PC's at all. I knocked windows due to security. How in the fuck does that equate to pc hardware? you half wit wannabe tech weanie. All I've EVER said is right tool for the job, MY job. I'm not on some fucking crusade here you no talent ass clown, people use whatever they want to use. Someone asked for advice. I gave it.

You, on the other hand, have very little clue about what the fuck you are talking about, and continue to prove it.

People who want quality machines buy quality hardware. That goes for the PC and mac (and sun for that matter)

(having reread your response again, you do in fact need to reexamine histoy. Like what the first mac brought to the desktop os world. I get the impression though that in 1984 you were maybe 2 years old.)

Cory W 02-05-2004 11:48 PM

I love my Powerbook. I wouldn't go back to using a PC for my daily business for the world.

But I do have to say, GFY is the only place where a Mac / PC thread can turn into a knock down drag out.

Good Times.

no more than 5 months. I suggest you stop trying to be witty and use your elite google skills to find some actual facts on why MAC are superior to PCs.

LOOK AT THE FUCKING URL IN YOUR BROWSER!

since you cannot seem to understand even that:

http://www.digitalvideoediting.com <--- host+domain

2002/11_nov <--- date of publication

/reviews/cw_macvspciii.htm <--- section and page name.

LOOK at the page info, see metadate field with 2002-11-13 in it.

Did you READ the article? I don't think you did. Otherwise you would know the G4 is not Apple's top proc any more, though it was when that article was written.

How in the fuck do you make any money in this business if you can't read?

- Jesus Christ - 02-06-2004 12:09 AM

Didnt make my money on the internet.

You have not stated one fact. All you do is make personal attacks.

Your a filthy ape turd sniffer. :2 cents:

no worries. I play games on windows machines...

For the record though, if you have the slightest interest, read the G5 reviews. Not saying they're faster or better, I've no idee. I love my mac, I love my sparcs, I'm on a hate-hate relationship with my windows machines.

filthy ape turd sniffer's son!

Project-Shadow 02-06-2004 01:17 AM

I've always considered myself a pc power-user ... but I managed to get on a mac and crash it in about 20 seconds by clicking on the X button for Final Cut Pro.. I mean wtf?

Demios 02-06-2004 01:23 AM

After changing to a Mac I would never go back.
For programs that you can not find for Mac OS X you can always use 'Viritual PC' although that can be a bit slow.

they need to get virturalpc out for the G5 already, so i can buy one and dump the pc completely

Sin_Boy 02-06-2004 08:10 AM

macs are great for video editing ..ie final cut pro or imovie.

everything else go PC.

The daily grind on viruses, trojans and IE issues can become a bit of an irritation if your time is worth something. Add to that mix the annual delete, refirmat and reinstall to clean up the trashy remains of programs and data gone bad.

I will reaffirm Mac is a better solution as long as the software you need is available for the Mac.
