Trying to Decide on a Charity... recommendations?

I am going to begin donating 10% of net website sales to charity. I'm thinking of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Feed The Children.

The 10% will be sent DIRECTLY FROM CCBill so the charity will receive a weekly check on my behalf.

This donation will NOT affect affiliate pay in any way. The 10% will come directly out of MY paycheck. My "Single Girl" sites will not apply. But both AmateurMarket.net and NakedCollegeGirls.tv will be included in this.

What is your favorite charity? And why should I choose that charity?

This is serious. I am going to implement the donations THIS WEEK. If more of us did this, not only would we help make the world a better place, but we just might change a few opinions about our industry (maybe VISA would even soften up a bit).

Anyway, once my charity has been chosen, I'll make a big announcement.

EDIT TO NOTE: This is 10% of Credit Card and Check sales. I will soon be installing a dialer and web900 option (thanks for adding those, CCBill). I don't know how those work quite yet, but if the monies from those go to my primary account number like the Credit Cards and Checks, those will be included also.

My favorite charity is the one I'm in the process of setting up:
A community/educational/cultural center in Namaqualand, one of the poorest regions in South Africa. Applying to the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund at the moment, we'll see how that goes. I bought the building (an old disused church) last year, going over again in April to get some alterations done, and do some networking/set up some small-scale projects.
Donations welcome

hmmm.... if i really was going to give big money to charity i think it would be some medical research but i'd have to research it well to give it to some university that I could see is making progress and i'd definitely want to see where my money goes.

So many of these charities have way too high an administrative overhead. I've read that MDA, the Jerry Lewis muscular dystrophy one, has an obscene amount of administrative costs that go for bullshit.

I do believe that charity begins at home - if there are family members that need help, they come first - after that, it's people in the place that you live. So local food banks, youth centers, battered women shelters, suicide hotlines etc

but then you have to think about who is the most desperate.... so you have some 15 year old in your town who can't get along with his parents so they hit the streets and they're on drugs and going nowhere ........ then you have some starving infant in Africa who needs medical care and food just to survive ......... how do you give money to a youth shelter in your city before you give to a fund that will save the starving kid in Africa?

decision is much too tough ..... better to keep the money and put it away for a nice big screen TV or a ride em lawn mower.

I have been visiting every link posted.

On another message board, someone recommended the "Make a Wish" foundation. That's a good one also. It gives terminally ill children a chance to fulfill their last wishes.

nice idea, and good idea of imx to suggest a woman related charity. that will give those nasty feminists a headache when they see your pornsite exploiting women actually helps women too

ive always wanted to donate to something like cancer research, but I would also like to save enough money so that I could make a big donation and actually see what my money is doing - I think they give tours to big donators

good luck :D

I'm pretty confident I'll either go with the St. Jude Children's research hospital, which treats Children with cancer free of charge (their parents usually can't afford to pay), or the Make a Wish Foundation, which allows terminally ill children to fulfill a last wish.

I don't know why I didn't think of Make a Wish before. When I was a kid, one of my friends (Heidi Campbell) died of Leukemia. But before she did, Make a Wish sent her and her entire family to Disneyland twice.
