But for me it's more of estetic reasons than being lazy - I don't want to see the bowl if I don't have to - it looks better down. But since my man never puts the lid down I'm thankful that he's got his own bathroom (but he still uses mine on occastion and leaves the ring up!!

this is true.. It's why they recommend your toothbrush to be at least 6 feet away from your toilet if you don't have a seperate bathroom.
