You're not the only one. Started with a live feed provider as a model thinking I'd make some quick cash, pay off some debt and work my way through my last year of college. Loved the people and the industry and started working in everything from model management to marketing etc...

Funny how we end up somewhere not even on the same map as where we started out.

So was this anyone's first choice of biz? And if you were making more mainstream would you even bother to stay in adult?

The thing is... with Mainstream, you make more money - IF you get the job. But the competition is FIERCE!!! The production level is so high that the story, actors, sets, locations, equipment have to be so good that pre-production (raising the money) is most of the work. With Adult, almost anyone with a little saavy, pocket change & perversion can at least be seen as a viable entity. Marketing that product (post production) then becomes the challenge.

geek that started working for a hosting company, became a partner in the hosting company, then dove into tgp's and gallery biz to see what my customers go through. got hooked on it, it's fun stuff.

Started out in mainstream bringing companies from startup to IPO and got progressively more and more sick with the attitude shift between startup and corporate. Was doing some work on the side for a guy who suggested I write a script that'd net me some serious coin (Some of you old-timers might recognize the name of it if I mentioned it...) and hooked me up with some amazingly cool people.

Wrote the script, got myself out of the ghetto, and it's been steadily up up up ever since.

The best part? Even when dealing with companies that push 100k-1M a month in revenues, there's still that take-it-as-it-comes friendly personal startup feel to it all. Aside from a few rare instances, everyone I've met in the industry still retains their humour and humanity.

Ironic, really, when you consider that everyone outside thinks we're all a pack of child molesting junkie crackhead satan worshipping serial rapists lying in wait around every dark corner to pounce on their womenfolk and stray livestock.

Was new, fun and challenging and made good money.

The industry is forever changing and you gotta keep a couple steps ahead of everyone and thats a hard task to do but worth the challenge to me.
