Avoid iPowerWeb for mainstream hosting:
I want to share with everyone a little experience I have had with a company in mainstream.
I used to do a lot of mainstream work and required a bit of a dumping ground for projects.. what have you. Being so cheap- it was a perfect solution. Their uptime was decent. The problem was never with the technical aspects. Here's where it gets fun. I knew my subscription ended December 28th. So I emailed them December 1st and told them I did not wish to continue, please turn off my account - do not further bill. I had a rep confirm TWICE with me that it would not bill to my credit card. (twice because I know how these companies work) BAM, get my invoice for january what do you know, they charged me. Obviously - why did I think for one second the nice customer service rep did his job? So I get ahold of billing on the phone and ask them to refund. They asked me to fill out a support ticket. WHATEVER. Okay fine. So I did that. I waited 1 WEEK. I had to reply to the origional request and ask "What is going on with this". This is the response I get: "We are here to inform you, that the refund takes 7-10 business days back to the credit card. You should be receiving it by end of this week. Karen Jade Parong" That was IT. No sorry for the bullshit trouble, and rep that was an idiot. No - sorry you had to waste an hour of your time when it was US who told you your card would not be billed again in the first place. Not a long or drawn out process. Not my worst customer service experience.... but definatly a bunch of people who don't know what they are doing and can not follow through on a promise. |

I have had similar experiences with IpowerWeb, everything is a circlejerk there, with support tickets just going in circles, and they love to tell you they wont renew but do it anyway... I doubt we are the only ones they did it to... probably SOP for them
