You have to watch it a couple times to enjoy it. And then you'll love it.

It's pretty self-explainatory. Just use logic. It's an open-ended logic, but it's logic non the less.

Cheers,
Matt

I thought it interesting. Certainly not the typical type movie.

Donnie Darko is fucking awesome.

It's really not that complicated, Donnie goes into a tangent universe that is destined to self-implode because it isn't the true universe.

Everyone in the tangent universe feels that something is wrong. And when the tangent universe implodes and the true universe is set back on track, everyone remembers what happened in the tangent universe (which is why Patrick Swayze was crying at the end)

The airplane engine is from the tangent universe, and is what ultimately keeps the tangent universe from over-writing the true universe.

I love movies that leave you thinking about them afterwards! Watch it again, with the ending in mind.

Thats a great explanation...I have not heard that one before. It's very insightful.

Funny thing is that the writer/director said that he was unsure of the meaning of the film itself when it was written. Nevertheless, there are so many different explanations...all of which we can now conclude are valid.

I enjoyed the movie, and enjoyed the writer/director commentary on the DVD when I watched it the second time...lots of stuff there's just no way you'd pick up on without that. But it was perfectly enjoyable being ambiguous, too.

It's an updated version of the "Wizard of Oz".
Being on acid when you watch it is helpful.

But it is a kick ass movie!
