![]() I have all domains with Dotster, in one single account.
Would it be safer to get some domains into another registrar, to avoid losing them, if a fucker hacks my Dotster account? In that case, he would steal from me only a few domains and not all. I also thought about creating a 2nd Dotster account ( not sure if this is allowed ) and moving some domains there. On the other hand, I don't think it's a necessary step, since I have the most valuable domains locked ( "Name Safe" in Dotster ) so in that case, they can't be stolen from me anyway, unless the hacker hacks also my email account, is that right? Any comments ![]()

Just a follow up... what's the best way to prevent your domains from being stolen?

Yes i would use a couple different ones if i were you. Directnic is another good registrar.
Tips. Make sure your registar has your domain on lock Make sure your email account will never expire or change. Check the reputation of your registrar. |

Tha's what I want to know.
Anyway, I've learnt to always write some contracts an use an escrow when i buy a somehow valuable domain. Escrow not only for security, but also to have another proof that I had bought the domain ![]()

Instead of having them at several registrars, you may want to have them all at a registrar you trust. If you have a lot of domains, or some high profile domains, consider going with a registrar who you have a personal relationship with. If they know you, you can ask them to contact you at a certain phone number before allowing any transfers or even before unlocking the domain for changes.

Smokey's advice is good. Do what he says and you can prevent domain theft and forest fires.

They earn money only ( or mostly ) from domain registration and renewal and don't care so much about their customers domain name values, especially if these are adult ones.
