Here is a even better idea for those that are feeling Activist level today, take note of every sponsor that advertises during the superbowl and on CBS tonight. Organize writing campaigns to those sponsors that you are going to boycott thier products for advertising on CBS since they "Censor" ads. This should keep you busy for awhile.

A true definition of censorship would be that thier is no place to get your message out. That no channels would accept thier ad. Just because you cant get on during a certain show isnt censorship. Did they ask if they could run it on any other time frame? Or once again is this just an extra way to squeeze some additional news time for themselves? Fucking everyone cries when they cant get thier way... well do something about it by meaningfully contacting those that can make a change, the sponsors themselves, as long as they keep paying the ad fees CBS could give a fuck what you think...

All that dribble from your fingers and you still failed to explain why they would accept ads from the Bush admin.

Of course they are a company and are free to do what they want, but what I would like to know is WHY they turned it down.

Because somewhere along the line, whoever makes those decisions decided through either thier political, economical or just plain flipping a coin decision to not run it.

Perhaps the Whitehouse actually bought the ads when they were supposed too, dont they run one every year? The point is that they are a private company, who paid large amounts of money to the NFL and can sell advertising to whoever they want.

I am just against twits telling private companies what to do based on thier own political beliefs. You want to run ads you like then start your own network or watch only the ones that are run by those with the same agenda as yourself.

I actually would rather see neither of thier ads, because I want to just sit and enjoy the game for a few hours without having to worry about all that other crap.

First off, I never said they 'have to' run their ad. I questioned why they would accept one ad and not another.

Secondly, they are not a 'private company'. CBS is owned by Viacom, a publicly traded company. Guess who owns the majority of stocks in this country....Republicans. Make sense to you now?

oh, and normal people aren't interested in the rantings of moveon.org

During this year's Super Bowl, you'll see ads sponsored by beer companies, tobacco companies, and the Bush White House. But you won't see the winning ad in MoveOn.org Voter Fund's Bush in 30 Seconds ad contest. CBS refuses to air it.

Meanwhile, the White House and Congressional Republicans are on the verge of signing into law a deal which Senator John McCain (R-AZ) says is custom-tailored for CBS and Fox, allowing the two networks to grow much bigger. CBS lobbied hard for this rule change; MoveOn.org members across the country lobbied against it; and now the MoveOn.org ad has been rejected while the White House ad will be played. It looks an awful lot like CBS is playing politics with the right to free speech.

Of course, this is bigger than just the MoveOn.org Voter Fund. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) submitted an ad that was also rejected. We need to let CBS know that this practice of arbitrarily turning down ads that may be "controversial" ? especially if they're controversial simply because they take on the President ? just isn't right.

The SuperBowl is a worldwide event, not an event to push US political views. CBS made a decision not to push their usual liberal agenda on the world. I am currently in the Caribbean and the natives are going wild at all the local parking lots of the sports books, the other FlashCash members throughout Europe are also bombarded with the SuperBowl right now. To deem this an equal opportunity for the left wing or right wing dipshits to push their vile fear tactics upon the world is insanity.

Enjoy the game.

Huh? Where did you get the political affiliation of the majority stock holders?

If this is the case, why is CBS one of the largest liberal sess pools put on broadcast TV?

Correct and I have choice words for Fox News and Rush et al.

The entire US based media outlets rule themselves on the boogey man fear tactics. Until you actually leave the US and live in another country, you will never notice it. The entire newspaper market, TV, and radio is all about fear, fear, and more fear.
