Flashers.com for sale

I spoke to the owner of this name, a friend of mine from California. He gave me permission to sell it for him.
Taking offers for Flashers.com until Tuesday at noon, EST.
Traffic for this name is about 150-200 type ins a day.
Minimum offer 6k, buy now is 60k.
Shoot me an email -
muki9 AT bellsouth.net
In order to be considered you MUST have a good reputation in this business. I Won't deal with newbies and people which no one knows.
- Already have one legit offer for it for 5k.

Nice name...

Reminds of me what was on the news today.

Two twins are terrorizing some town here in Holland by flashing their dicks to people on the street. 2 identical twins hahah! Freaky shit.

Great domain name.

Lens, you should snap it up before it's sold. You already have all the wild party girl stuff and it would rock the house under adultplatinum

Seeing that you've only been here 1 month and only 100 posts, it seems that you're the one without a reputation. If you're worried about not getting paid, use an escrow.

We will use escrow in any event.
We're business people and we deal with business people. Real buyers shouldn't suffer because of fake bidders and pay extra. If you have no one strong in this industry to stand next to you and give a good word about you, then this deal is not for you.
Plain and simple.

As far as me, if you don't know, take a look at the last Secretary.com thread and read through the end.

you might want to by flasher.com and sell them together. any promotion of this domain would bleed traffic to the other domain and vice versa so there respective values would be depressed.

There are some really good people here that understand business better then other industries on the web.
For domain auctions, which I hardly do, I only post in two other places - Domainstate.com and Webfather's private domain board.
Webfather's board is THE best place for domainers and access to the board is by invitation only. Also known as "the HARDEST place on the web to get in".
My partner posts here regularly so I feel right at home. I met few very good people through the few posts I posted so far so I like the place.

I also have allot of contacts with most of the big buyers in the domain industry so when a domain comes, I'll shoot them emails directly. I also wouldn't represent something I think is really overpriced. My game is to keep everyone happy, not just to sell everything possible. Long term happy contacts will work better then short term profits, for me anyways.

i wasn't suggesting that shepherd wasn't respectable or anything. I was just saying that a lot of people who buy domains don't maintain a profile, and in my opinion his approach is a bit short sighted.

It all depends what you're trying to achieve.
By stating what I did my goal is to protect buyers not to overpay when fake bids come (and they do), not as some indicated protect myself from being ripped off.

For the record folks, there are a lot of people in the biz who don't necessarily hang out on GFY and other webmaster boards who are still major players on the Net.

Sal (Shep) is one of them. For those who don't know him, Sal has even more domains than Rick (Webfather) and Rick's portfolio is enormous as everyone knows.

A lot of guys like to stay behind the scenes and low key. Sal is very low key, not showy, humble, and a very sharp domain investor and speculator, in fact same league as Rick.

We're having lunch tomorrow and are working on some projects together.

Interesting. Sex.com, in my mind, is the undisputed king of revenue-generating generic type-in traffic. In the adult biz, runner-ups are porn.com, milf.com, pussy.com, porno.com, or girls.com. Porn.com is the only one I'd think you could realistically dispute as better than sex.com.

In non-adult, again I can't think of any generics that beat sex.com, although movies.com gets a lot of traffic, and names like drugs.com, loans.com, music.com, and tickets.com get way less traffic but I'm sure do well on a per-click basis. Oh wait...travel.com...domain created 21-Jan-2004, while untrue, seriously suggests some movement is afoot...less traffic, but high revenue, with huge potential. Tickets.com I could see putting in that category too. Any other guesses people have?

Domain names are important, but you can take literally any domain name and with the right marketing kick ass with it. Take that for what its worth, I just wanted to say that in this thread and express my opinion.

Also, their are alot of players out their with shitty domain names, but are marketing wizzes, and make millions!

i'd bet that porn.com and porno.com make far more revenue than sex.com

much more targeted traffic.

trying to pretend that domains dont matter is stupid. there are peopel who make money without domains (raises hand)..

and there are people who make money with domains (raises hand).

the latter is much easier. the former requires mareketing wizardy... thank god i'm smarter than 99.99% of the people reading

That's a nice one. I own www.flashings.com which is obviously a develped site and part of my webmaster program. I'm very happy with the domain and I think it definately helps conversions because the domain legitimizes the site in the eyes of the consumer.

If I wasn't so far over my domain budget this month already I'd be buying it. ;)

Gotta agree with that.
Flashers won't be good for any type of site. It's full potential is in a site that will use it in it's content.

No doubt. Yahoo & google are oft-cited examples. The porn biz too is full of millions-earning sites with shitty names. Still, nothing like an extra 10 million type-ins every year looking for just the product you're selling. That's what a name like travel.com could provide.

I think if they were both marketing porn in the same way, porn & porno would definitely make more per click. I'd guess sex.com gets several times the traffic though...I doubt the per-click revenue difference would make up for the difference. Could be though...as you said, "porn" is more targeted than "sex."

Shepherd: Think you could sell shagcity.com for me in one day? On a Sunday?

I really wanted to develop it but I'm in a real bind.

I've got 4 kids; we'll be on the street by Tuesday if I don't come up with money. Sappy story, I'll spare everyone the details.

Somebody Heeeeellllllllllllllllp!

Edit: If this seems unprofessional it's because I'm a freakin' amateur, OK? If I were a pro I wouldn't be posting this.

297 searches for 'flashers.com' on overture last month. I don't doubt the 150-200 type-ins per day claim at all.

I'd guess sex.com gets several times the traffic though...I doubt the per-click revenue difference would make up for the difference. Could be though...as you said, "porn" is more targeted than "sex."
arg, could drop me an email at somecreep1 [at] yahoo [dot] com ? Thanks

Sounds like someone's going to need content to go with that domain...
