A good drink & giggle in bed before a good romp beats a superficial 'day' for me.
My husband does everything for me......never complains about it either - plus he has to deal with my character too......if that's not 'LOVE' plastered on his heart with a cherub.......I don't know what love is. I'd rather him showing me his love and affection in this way, than buying me something that I don't necessarily need and being inconsiderate with me for the next 364 days of the year.

Couldn't have said it better, sistah! You go, girl!
Guys and women who get suckered in by all these 'marketing' geniuses....well, y'all have been pitched by the pitchers...
These holidays are just that. Days of the year chosen by someone else...and, all it does is put money in the hands of Hallmark and the candy makers and the flower producers and the jewellers.
If it assuages guilt for being an asshole or asshole-ette, so be it. But, that one day isn't going to make up for a year of being an asshole, so why bother?
Being wonderful the entire year..now, that's something special.
Loving one another is an every day event. Lord knows, it's difficult enough sharing a bathroom and a bed.
