Bandwidth costs @ web hosts

I've been reading a bunch of the threads about shared hosting and have looked at a number of hosts. One thing I've noticed that pisses me off is that most hosting companies don't list their bandwidth overcharge rates.

What good is it to say "One Month, 20gb bandwidth, only $9.95!!" when the bw overage cost could be huge?

I currently use Webair, they do list their overage costs, and they're pretty high - $2.00 per gig over.

A number of people say that BW shouldn't be more than about $0.75 per gig, max.. anyone have shared hosts at that price?

Thanks for all the replies. I'm not bitchin about webair - more bitchin that other hosts don't always post their overage costs. I'd be pretty reluctant to sign up with one of them.

Webair has been great for me.. I haven't gone over my bandwidth yet so the pricing is definately right!

I couldn't be happier with jupiter hosting. Cheap rates and their techs are quick to respond.

VibeHosting.com, hit me up on icq 51034232 for custom plans, if it's just for static hosting (galleries) I'll give you a good price and a better one for overage.

I've always bought bw by the pipe, not the gig.

How many "gigs" is a 1 Mb/s pipe?

Phat Servers.

no doubt, phatservers rock. i've got a virtual account there that has always loaded very fast, and to my knowledge hasn't gone down once (except for one time that was my own dumb fault - lol).

support is good as well.
