US deficit reaching 477 biljon

wow, just reading this on teletext

a Congressional commission announced that the deficit surges to a new record high, from 374 biljon to 477 biljon this year.

Goddamn, that's almost twice the debt the Belgian state has made after 160 years

How do you think he's giving everyone the alleged "feel good" feeling right now?

The economy is great people he says. Yeh its always great when you can open the county's Amex Platinum card and go on a spending spree like there's no tomorrow.

We're like a wife that's pissed off and the husband says "Honey go shopping and have some fun. Here take the credit card and buy whatever you want."

Unless the US does something about the baby boomers claiming their benefits, the deficit will surge even higher.

wrong way of thinking:
unless the US does something about the deficit, it will surge even higher, when the baby boomers claim their benefits.

if these people have earned those benefits, they should get them

it's not that high because of them, solve the real problems

The problem is 1/4 of your tax must be going on the interest, and god forbid if anything happened in the US now, you'd be fucked into recession.

A SARS like desease, terrorism, serious BSE outbreak etc...

this dopey topic is like starting a thread saying, "oh no! Bill Gates charged 100,000.00 on his Amex! Is he mad???"

Its completely irrelevant unless you're too young to remember Reagan.
