Just voicing an opinion, Tala made several posts regarding the money OWED to her and she could not deposit the original checks sent. I'm sure I'm coming into this really late, but I want to have my 2 cents anyway. I haven't posted about this before but I've been upset about it for awhile.
Normally I don't talk about my personal problems, but in this case I think few enough people know me here so that it doesn't really matter.
I've got my own set of hard times. I'm feeling a crunch and having health problems and drowning in a sea of stuff I can't handle. I'm crushed under bills right now and I haven't got a clue how I'm going to get the money to get out from under them. It makes it even more fun when the doctor tells you that you've got to take it slower or things will only get worse.
What you haven't seen is me bitching on the boards about how rough things are for me. I've been making plans and trying out new things to try to increase my revenue and decrease my workload. I hoped my fiance would get a raise this year (after them having a freeze on them for the last 2 years) but now that's looking doubtful too. Sucks, but that's life. That's what normal every day working people go through. If it's bad enough I'll start selling stuff. If it gets worse, we'll take more drastic measures. We'll do what we need to do to get by because that's what responsible adults do. Nobody is offering me a handout because I've got tits. I'm not asking for free computer equipment and I wouldn't bitch about a few bucks that didn't get through because I'm unable to deal with my own bank.
The whole thing stinks. It upsets me greatly and makes me more than a little sick to my stomach. It's things like this that are really making me wonder what I'm doing in this business with all this bullshit around. Scams and shams abound.

HONEY, I can't even tell you how much I feel your pain on this one. I have so been there and done this and I can tell you, it didn't bode well for me either. THANK GOD, mine wasn't public the way yours is here, but I can tell you, I had some VERY serious goings on behind my back on it. I INTENTIONALLY did not hold one dime of the money I raised, and I raised a LOT.... almost $10k for this situation and I later found out it wasn't even CLOSE to being used on what I raised it for...... That 10K was what was PAID, which was a little over HALF of what was pledged, some of the things auctioned wasn't paid for and so on, but the money wasn't ever held by me and I STILL had fingers, BIG one, pointing at me on it.
And the pathetic part of MY situation? There was partying going on in Vegas, which I DID NOT attend that year because I, myself didn't have the money to even go, but the one we raised it for was damn well there AND came back fucking bragging about how much fun they had while they were there!!
I know all too well how you feel on this situation, not that both are the same, but same principal...... and I applaud you for putting yourself out to help someone like this. But man, I can so feel your pain on not ever wanting to do it again. This was like 3 or 4 years ago and I've not done it since and won't.

Tala and Tootie, I don't know either of you from Adam, except what I have read on this board, but when people lend a hand, don't bite it.... that's SOOOOO not cool of either of you to do. You can hate me for saying this all you want, but I have been where Brad is and it hurts to know you stick your neck out for someone and they lay your head on a chopping block over it.
If you didn't get all the money you needed, you use your local resources, if you are too proud to do that, then shame on you, learn to use your resources and help yourself and don't come screaming at the very people who offered and gave you help. I have been in some pretty nasty struggles myself and am STILL not over this last one yet, but instead of whining about it to no bitter end, I use what I have at hand and the resources I have to get thru it.
Sorry to rant, but this one just hit WAY too damn close to home for me.
