Does anyone have a Toyota Echo

...if so what are the pros and cons? Are you satisfied with the durability of it? I am considering buying a new econo car and the Echo is supposed to do 43 miles to the gallon.

I tried it and it was great, and the seats were confortable. I'm guessing it is pretty durable.

no, I have a 2004 Lexus RX-330. Next year I'll prolly get an SC-430.

Keep working until you can afford a real car.

I stayed with some people who had one. It was really cramped in the back seat.

FYI...Danny Boy...I "work" if and when I feel like it...just to occupy my time. I can afford to buy any car on the market (and pay cash for it)...but I prefer an econo car...for multiple reasons. Now get in your Lexus...drive down to the local drugstore...buy a condom (small size)...then pull it down over your head...you little fucking prick.

Good afternoon Honey. I had never heard of the Echo until I did some research. I have heard good things about the Corolla and I think I prefer it over the Echo...although they are very similar. The Corolla is supposed to make 40 miles to the gallon.

We've got the echo hatch here in Canada, its not bad looking actually... I dont know if you've got the hatch in the states as well, but the sedan version is only the ugliest car to ever make it to production.

So let's see. You can afford to purchase a Bugatti Veyron but you choose to purchase a Toyota Echo? Where's that BS flag icon when you need it?

Dig, you know I love ya, but I find it ammusingly ironic that you compared another toyota to the toyota he wants j/k

Yes, it's much better to need a big car to make up for your small penis than to get something which doesn't waste gas like there's no tomorrow. After all, compensation for your 4 inches is more important than the environment, right?

I still can not understand why whenever someone is jealous of someone over a car the person immediately has a small dick.

Like anyone that lives in a big house must be bald!

Or anyone who owns a boat must be impotent!

Get over it, work hard, maybe one day you can have a small dick too!

I am not a car afficionado...so I have never heard of a Bugatti Veyron...and I do not know how much one costs...but I am satisfied that I can purchase any car on the market. I choose to buy a small econo car...for multiple reasons...thank you very much.

I am not very material minded...the most expensive toy I ever bought was a new Diesel Motor Home...which I sold a few months ago...since my travelling days are basically something in the past.

Get it right...white socks...black Wellington boots...Budwieser...a modular (which I recently inherited)...and currently a 1988 Taurus (econo car which I bought new in '88 but is entering the "fix or repair daily" stage). PF was a frugal man...and taught me the value of a dollar...so the answer is yes...I think so.

Nancy boys cannot be a "bully"...they are...well...just Nancy boys.

So let's see. You can blow a million bucks on a car (cash!) but you still drive a 16 year old piece of shit that needs to be repaired daily. How fucking hilarious. I really need to dig up that icon.

edit: my math skills are off, make that 16 year old

Echo's are great cars for what they are.

A little small and underpowered, but the fuel economy is good.

However, if you can afford any car on the market, why are worrying about fuel? Just get something with decent room/power that doesn't look like a squashed walnut.

You are correct...except that my '88 Taurus is not exactly a "piece of shit"...as it is practically like new inside and out...and has less than 80,000 miles on it...and it has only been in the past month that I have had to do any repairs...but it is probably an indication of things to come...thus I am "considering" buying a new car.

I am not worried about the 'cost" of fuel...but there are other concerns. I try to do my fair share as a caretaker of this world...when it is not to inconvenient (I even recycle)...silly of me isn't it? In addition...since there are speed limits in the US...a small econo car will take me from point A to point B just as fast as an expensive gas guzzling car. On top of that if I blew my savings/investments on expensive material things...in which I have little interest...I would not have a savings/investments for long. I am retired...I am 45...I hope to live for another 30 years...and I am currently financially sound and will not have any money concerns for the remainder of my life and I intend to keep it that way...thank you very much.

Weren't you looking for a truck yesterday?

Good luck man.. You're a smart guy getting an economical car. Some people aren't into material showmanship and others are. If we could all be as humble as you, maybe we'd all have even bigger houses, and goat testicle toilet paper!

Let us know what you get and how it worked out for you.

In addition to a new car...I am also considering buying a small truck.

I have a "friend" who works for Toyota so I can say that it only gets that gas mileage under perfect driving conditions....highway driving, etc.

Toyota just came out with a new make called "Scion" (spelling?) and it's pretty cool for the price/size. Test drove one the other day-perks of a "friend" at a dealership. You'll see it on some upcoming ads in movie/DVD previews.........new form of advertising :-)

My brother bought one 2 years ago. He's never complained. No maintance issues at all. When driving long range he gets over 50 mpg. Took a bit to get used to the speedometer and stuff being in the middle.

Well...I assumed that it would be "under perfect driving conditions" but it has been my experience that they usually come close to what is advertised. I read something about them soon replacing the Tacoma...I think in '05.

Pretty good point. I'd like to add that on GFY, some people arent mature, and others are.

If he wants an economical car, why bash him for it. His likes arent your likes and its obvious that he doesnt give a fuck if you agree with him or not.

And for those of you who have yet to find this out on your own, here is a little wisdom: A bad ride beats the fuck out of a good walk.

Everyone here, usually (tho not always) those who are jealous, scream about people trying to show off. It's not necessarily showmanship. There are many reasons to buy another car over an Echo. There is saftey, handling ability (in emergency situations), better depreciation rate (for resale value), practicality (size wise), build quality, ride quality for long trips, and on and on and on.

A Toyota Echo simply doesn't make the top of the list (or anywhere near) in any of these important, non-showy characteristics.

Someone with millions of dollars in liquid assets (which I doubt there is any legitimacy to that anyway) doesn't go out and buy a toyota echo for fuel economy. This is just another total bullshit thread perpetuated by the kiddies around here.

Mildy entertaining at least.

Seriously? I've got a Geo that I love for it's compact size and fuel economy. We putt around the island in it all the time and use it for all kinds of quick errands in the city, etc. We have other cars for long trips or taking the mountain bikes out.

I've been looking for another car for a couple years, but haven't found one I really liked. I liked the Echo and rented one for a week. It was just a little too small for my tastes. I liked the Corolla better. I also decided that if I got a Toyota, I'd get a Prius to beat around in. I also liked the Dodge Neon. I haven't heard much about maintenance issues with the Echo. They are Toyota's and generally wear pretty well if you take care of them (regular oil change, etc)

We just traded ours in on an Element. Loved the Echo, but it is small (duh)

However, if it is just one or two people riding in it, it is great, with plenty of leg room and head room. Sure the back seat is squished but that is no surprise, I have seen luxury cars with tiny back seats.

Mileage was fantastic, and never had any mechanical problems in the three years we owned it. Yes it is a little light on the road, so I suggest getting good water moving tires if you expect to drive in the rain.

Overall it gets a big from me though.

what's wrong, don't like toyotas?

i love toyotas, but i think the echos are pretty fugly. i'd go for a corolla S.

and actually, i've driven the matrix, and it's a fairly cool car, nice to drive and fairly practical. the 6-speed trans is nice, too.

it's too bad they don't release the 'performance' model of the matrix in awd, or better yet awd & turbo, you can only get awd in the lower models.

but if you're looking for a little bigger car, the solara convertible is a sweet ride. those things just kinda glide over the road.
