I know I'm a honkey b/c I'm white but what is a honkey? where the hell did that word come from? I guess its supposed to be insulting but how can you be insulting when you don't know what the fuck it is.(got called a honkey yesterday)

honky - derogatory slang word for "white person," 1967, black slang, of unknown origin, perhaps from late 19c. hunky "East-Central European immigrant," a colloquial shortening of Hungarian. Honky in the sense of "factory hand" is attested from 1946.

My guess is it came from the red necks that went "Honky Tonking" at their local country bar as they called it or in todays terms, "Pub Crawling".
