Great work. I like the B&W one also out of simplicity, but this gives a cutting edge presence. :thumbsup

75 bucks...

You poor designers have no clue about your worth...
Please stop hurting yourselves by not knowing your value...

Some VERY kick ass designs here. I applaud you guys for your creativity but have no choice but to call you stupid for putting so much effort out for $75.00.

Stop being pimped and start pimpin will ya?

Maybe you are right, but what if a couple designers enter just because of the fun and if they win it's an extra? Besides, most of the business cards shown here are not really suited for printing at all.... but that's just my 2cts :glugglug

digifan 01-25-2004 03:21 PM

Thanks Modelperfect.com and AlienQ,

I am just curing my bad cold with doing more samples :) I have lots of work but my recent client is so busy with his pay sites to ProBilling that he did not reply my last email so far...
Anyway, here is another possible layout using a different color scheme :)

A good design here will help getting other work... :2 cents:
I know I'm interested in some of the work anyway...

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 01-25-2004 03:42 PM

50 Underpaid designers!

"A good design here will help getting other work... "

Bullshit.
Its about money period.
A portfolio sells your services and anyone that see's a decent portfolio or is demonstrated your work will get ya a new client.

Your better off posting and using your sig to your advantage than design for free or non guranteed commision.

"And still it got me to notice some people that I haven't checked out before."

And at the same time running a nice ad campaign for the contest provider at the expense of the designers effort.

From reading this thread ya see a kick ass logo done for 75.00 bucks so that designer must be desperate and in turn you save money when you contact em cuz you know he will do it cheap.

He undersold himself in that contest...
He will definatly under sell himself again.

ModelPerfect 01-25-2004 04:18 PM

hey look call me a cynic but i've been watching these design contest threads for a while. I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but there are a few people here who arn't actually designing squat. They're using the same few backgrounds, and slapping text over the top.

The cards look kinda ok ish because the photo they're using is cool, but I'm wondering a) if they have the license for it, and b) if they realise what CMYK actually is.

just my :2 cents:

Wasn't pointing any fingers at you.

seriously, go back and look at the first page, and i can see one person using the same elements as he used in another contest, and i can see one dude who has repeated a background i bet he didnt do and hasn't even done it seamlessly.

geez

er no, that's actually not what i said. The CMYK point was just one tiny point.

I'm a qualified graphic designer and 3d animator, i might not know much about it all but i do know just a little bit.

I own the license AND reseller rights to each and every pic I am using in contests.

When I am doing a design or layout, I like to play with background variations.

Re CMYK, I am familiar with dtp.

Just thought you'd know... I am sure you wanted to post it in another thread and contest just closed earlier today.

Well I wasn't gonna poiunt fingers, but when you put it this way

If you were familiar with DTP, then you wouldnt be doing things like putting white on white and huge fucking seams.

You can all call me whatever you like, but it's just an observation.. if you want design done, contact a designer privately and work with them to ensure a quality product. If you're looking for business cards etc, get someone local so you can feel the stock see the final products.

http://kweks.brisurbex.com/mei/uploads/own.jpg

almighty 01-25-2004 06:36 PM

id like to say that doing these things for smaller monies gets exposure and can add these to portfolio and then if the perosn likes the work they might hire the winner in future to do custom work if the designer did exact work etc etc so doing it for small price is not a complete waste :winkwink:

btw when does this contest end anyways?

onno 01-25-2004 06:42 PM

Why put a finished product online if you don't even know if you'll win? Sounds more productive to put a good draft up and then perfect it when it's chosen. Do you know how many contests there are on this board? How time consuming would it be to post a finished product for each one without having a guaranteed avenue of payment?!? Sounds like you're just looking for a reason to argue...

x-vision 01-25-2004 06:53 PM

I just got back in and WOW, thanks for all the great entries! I was happily surprised to see so many new entries and as I said originally, there are certainly several that are winners. The hardest part is going to be picking just one. I'm going to show them to some others in the office tomorrow morning and pick the winner tomorrow afternoon. Any last minute entries are welcome. So far Divx, playgirl, onno, and almighty are my favorites. Thanks again!

You don't know me, so that was totally uncalled for.

We don't have photos in this thread, do we?

I was talking about proper photo copyright, license and that i know what CMYK is. I don't even know when this contest ends so I entered having the flu, high fever, you name it.

I regret that this took this turn. I was indeed grateful for your unsolicited advice, but now I have to say that I do not want any more advice from you.

not really, and i was hesitant to post because i dont want to get into an argument. just simply i was wondering if anyone else has noticed what i had noticed.

Here is another work done by me for sale.. I prefer clean style and max 2 pages for the tour.
