you know - I'm really REALLY leaning towards getting a mac
I'm getting soooo fucking sick of all the viruses and shit that happens to PCs, i'm sooooo close to going out and buying a mac now....
sugestions?

I work at an advertising agency part time and use an iBook. I'm personally not the biggest mac fan, I luckily am not having any trouble with my PC in terms of viruses and stuff.
I would just stick to PC's, but hey, no harm in shopping around :http://www.apple.ca |

I am a Linux user and I love it, but for an end user, MacOSX = FreeBSD + Dreamweaver and Photoshop natively, infinitely better than M$ crap.

give Linux a try.
you can get SuSe Linux for about 10 or 15 bucks in a store with an install cd on you can download it free from the web. With suse linux you can partition your hard drive to be half Microshit and half Linux so you can give it a try and you still have your old Microshit if you need it. and their are other versions of Linux too. I went with Linux for the same reason you mentioned - virus horseshit just gets to be too much. Now I like Linux a lot better than Microshit. Hardly ever use Microshit now, just some apps not on Linux or I can't find them. give it a try, alot more stable than Microshit, and no virus crap. |

Dont bother dude you will regret it.
If anything just get a damn mac if it it does not crush ya. They aint no thing to really consider till ya start video editing and that just a maybe. New Hyperthreading in the chips for PC's is lookin pretty good and does outerform Mac still. Now about these Virus's... STOP SURFING RUSIAN PORN SITES! and if you must... Turn all your security up and accept no shit from any website. No Java Script. No Java. No FLash No VIdeo. Okies? Kool. Oh and maybe update your Virus protecxtion.

mac's suck for anything except multimedia. the reason why pc's have more virus is because it's popular. no one has time to make a virus for a mac, hardly anyone uses it.

I just changed my hole network over to mac's Hooper is now on mac and so is Kris!! I am no computer wiz by any means But the new Mac's kick ass I just baught a G-4 desktop down in my office and a G-4 Powerbook laptop to use upstairs.. With the Mac to Windows software you can get you can bring all your shit from your PC over to your Mac... there isnt alot of new shit to learn but let me tell you!!! Some of the Feutures of the mac Kick ASS!!!!!! |

Some of the shit that goes on in Webpages these days peeps that create the shit outah be hunted down like Saddam and given treatments with no vaseline. PC or Mac... Pick your poison really cuz shit flies onto MAC's as well. Its not that the security is more advanced it is simply the fact that it has less development under the hood. That makes it truly more vulnerable when an attack is ensued.

Up until 1.5 years ago, I've never owned a mac, and used PC's for the previous 15 years. Whenever anyone asked me about apple, I would happily state how they sucked. I am a compulsive buyer, and being subject to boredom, a friend talked me into buying a powerbook g4 (tibook), fast forward 1.5 years, i now have tibook, dual-2 g5 with dual cinema screens, ipod, and have bought ipod, and imac's for friends/family. Anyone who says that mac's are "crap", or "crap for anything that's not design work" are wrong. You can do anything on a mac that you can do on a PC, and you can also do anything on a PC that you can do on a mac. There will be some things you will find that work better on one than the other. Personally, I find that 99% of the things that I do work better on the mac than the pc (and this includes, surfing the web, ssh, testing c programs I write for unix, and so on. OSX is based on FreeBSD, and has apple's UI. Basically that translates into, "designed to be simple enough for an idiot to use, yet has the capabilities to keep an advanced user happy." If you're not willing to learn how to do things again, you won't be happy. Everything is different to some degree, some things are very different. If you are willing to learn, you might be a poster-boy switcher at some point.
I bought an iMac for my mother recently, specifically because I got tired of cleaning the computer up every time she got spyware/viruses on there, which was turning into a daily occurance. |

if you get a mac you'll be one of "THOSE" people heheheh the diehard Macintosh users ,
Their Graphics is great lots of benefits with Mac , but i think you might run into some issues with certain programs that are not Mac Compatible ! On the otherhand , i hear lots of great things about them such as the one you mentioned like they never get viruses or if they do its very seldom |

Sometimes i have to process 10,000 images which would normally take hours on this set up takes less than 1 hour. |
