If he is buying a G5, he can run VirtualPC and his fave windows programs when needed without worrying about viruses, spyware and other hassles.

haha the argument that there is no software for macs is about 10 years old. sure the pc may have more, but macs nowadays have tons of programs available. i have both pc and mac, but for now, i'll stick with my powerbook.

They are for people who have 0 techincal knowledge. Maybe I'm a control freak but I hate macs.

I also prefer 5 buttons over 1.

And the inability to upgrade. I love that about macs.

When you say mac all the tards who think they have computer knowledge come out of the woodwork. You guys really have no clue these days about what macs can or can't do, and it's entertaining to see people who normally try to appear so smart appear so stupid and clueless.

Alright with all that being said, tell me what you can't upgrade on most of the models and if you can or can't buy a mouse with more than one button since you're an authority now.

Apple doesnt make a 5 button mouse 3rd parties might. The module system apples use for upgrades is rediculous and the parts or so expensive most of the time its not even worth upgrading.

Way to skip out on the questions and you're usually on top of things but you missed out on this one. Why would anyone that does serious work use the mouse that came with their computer I don't know it's beyond me. If you care about your workflow you'll upgrade your mouse to something programmable anyway with multiple buttons and if you can buy a $2000 machine a $50 mouse isn't a problem.

As far as upgrades, what's not upgradeable. You've got USB and Firewire, PCI Slots, you can change video card, upgrade processor, add ram, bigger better audio cards and so on. So what would us mac users be missing out on again.

Oh yeah we have a one button mouse that comes with, a power user is switching anyway. we don't have all the video games, personally I use my machine for work not as an overpriced playstation, oh yeah and we can't upgrade anything other than processor, video, audio, addition slots and so on.

My bad you got me, I'm out back to the batcave.

You retarded idiot. Most of the surfers to your site use a PC, so you're gonna develop every aspect of your site on a MAC now?

You didn't exactly say that, but it is implied.

Geeze noobs!! A site looks different on a Mac. So now you will have to test everything you publish on a PC.

Well at least you can accurately defend your mac, but most of your ponts only apply to the newer systems.

You still can't build a mac from scratch and file recovery is much harder. If you ever have a hard drive failure or a damaged cluser on a mac tons of shit can become corrupted before you know whats going on.

Yeah pretty much every system in the last 6 years. Of course file recovery isn't so much of an issue since the system doesn't crash of corrupt like a windows system does. I've had one hard drive crash in the last 8 years probably, and that one was my fault because I have a habit of installing new shit and playing with it all the time.

ha, dead serious. everyone can agree that macs are brighter and "prettier"... and honestly i have had more system crashes using windows 98, xp home and pro compared to using mac os 9 and X. maybe it's just my luck, but macs have proved to be sturdier.

How do I count the ways.

The MAc uses different fonts -Its font sets have more than the PC, so you may loose a charter here and there. Just something to keep an eye on. If you use a text editor for everything, no problem more or less. There is also the one button issue as Jesus pointed out. Color is another issue, again you should be watching for this anyway (use only the basic 256 colors). It's easier to screw the site up on the MAC.

If you use Macromedia or Adobe suites, the results vary between a MAc and Pc. Spaceing is different for example. The whole look of the site changes. Try it, I have.

There some other subtle differences. The Mac usually has a higher screen resolution than a PC. That is changing now though. so if you develop at a high res and the suffer comes along at 800x600 - a potnetial mess. This somethinmg you should be watching anyway.

Using Photoshop or iMovie on the mac an porting to the PC is fine.

That was the short response

Not fair to compare MAC OS 9 and X to Win98 (years apart).

Never use Microsoft home anything. It would be a mistake.

There is a place for the MAc and PC (don't leave out BSD or Linux).

To say MAC doesn't have problems is wrong, they do. Ever have font corruption?

It's usually easier and faster to fix some MAC software problems. Microsoft offers more diagnostic tools though. On a MAC you can copy a program or system. On a PC programs have to be installed. Then there is that fucking thing called a registry on the PC.
