Which sponsor has the best sites for modem access?

With about two thirds of the US still using dial-up (according to local newspaper) it makes sense to have a sponsor that is modem friendly. That means smaller thumbs and smaller big pics and video clips that will work at 56 Kbps or even 28.8 Kbps. That's for both hosted galleries and within the site.

Text stories may also play better to this group of low speed users.

If someone has dialup, it may mean they can't get DSL (to far away from the CO) and therefore their modem speeds are slower too.

Cable doesn't offer Internet to everyone either. Some have left cable and DSL becasue of poor service or they didn't have the capability to get it working. Price could have been an issue? They might pay $24.95 for porn, but not for access.

So, who among you sponsors has a tour and site best for the modem user.

That's what I thought, but the reporter must of done some homework? Maybe it was old studies he was quoting.

Even if the stat is wrong, a third of the net in the US is several million people. I'm not willing to give up that slice of the pie. Questions come up like if they don't have broadband would they even buy porn? Well, some will.

Quoting the St. Louis Post Dispatch, January 17, 2004, Page A-14, Article by Michael D. Sorkin

"Nationwide computer users can't seem to sign up fast enough for high-speed. About 38 million American households - about one of every three with Internet access - now have a high speed connection, according to new figures from Pew Internet and American Life Project"

The article goes on to point out problems and costs etc.

I checked the report and others. Support for the statement can be found in a number of studies. If there is more interest in the thread, I'll site the URLs.
