Because I'm entitled to a drunken rant every now and again...

We used to have this joke in college we used to spout, in between pints and hitting on drunken sorority whores.

(I've modified the saying a bit for subject matter, and language)

"Save the dogs kill the Chinese"

It was like our own private campaign for to reaffirm our humanity, and laugh at how people put on blinders.

We were around tons of kids who were dropped into the middle of the ghetto typical of various elite colleges. These gritty urban environments were in sharp contrast to lush private Phillips academies in the New England wilderness or warm Cali private schools like Harvard Westlake.

All these rich kids would have crazy green peace campaigns, anti-this, pro-that, given whatever was a fashionable demonstrations at the time.

Yet, with all the horrible acts against the humanity of poor committed every day outside of the walls of many of these schools?Georgetown, U Penn, Columbia etc...

The most telling personal experience was at this school church fundraiser I attended.

I believe it was a dinner fundraiser for new chairs, or something of the sort.

My friend and I had arrived late, drunk as fuck (it wasn?t an actual church meeting?more like a social type of event).

There was this bum asking for food as we approached the front stairs to the building, we told him that we?d grab him some food in a second, and continued on to the door.

The bum had just approached the event, and clearly didn?t know that there was literally a feast inside.

As we got to the door, a young woman I knew was exiting the fundraiser with a delicately wrapped plate of food.

She gave me a gentle kiss on the cheek, and thanked me for coming to the event.

As I spoke my salutations, she noticed the cheap vodka on my breath, and gave me a sexy frown as she walked down the stairs and away from the building.

I looked back (to check out her PHAT ass) and saw this beautiful church-raised young woman turn and patently ignore the bum who asked her for food, and walk down the block back to her dorm.

While I did fulfill my promise to the faceless man...I doubt it made any impact in his life; yet, it has served as a vivid reminder of the irony of some social causes we have in developed countries.

With all types of problems running rampant in China in regards to health care from the infants to the elderly, I?m sure they have to put animal control and disposal methods in perspective...especially to achieve some medical goal that effects the entire world.
