For the next 30 mins, I will answer all Poker related Questions

Bored? Yep - me too. Should be out getting some tonight but since I got stood up, I need to kill some time.

So, you played the Webmaster Poker Tour and got bitten by the bug? You've played some freebie online games and have a question about Holdem? Omaha? 7-Stud?

Ask away.

How many perverted terms can you come up with using just Holdem Poker hands.

California Waiter (Q3 - Queen [with a] Trey)
Dinner for Two - 69 (offsuit/suited)

All I can think of right now

Here's the deal - to play a structured game for a living, you HAVE to be playing at the $10-20 level or above. Consequently, you need the bankroll to go along with it.

Most people will quote the 300-BB rule (which says for any given game, you should have a bankroll 300 times that of the big bet in the game).

In actual fact you need a lot more. More like 750xBB to make any kind of headway at that limit. You also need to take into consideration that the higher limits attract better players. Just because you can do well at 2-4 doesn't mean you will fair well at anything bigger.

So yes, if you've got the cash to bankroll yourself, pay your bills for a minimum of a year and be able to take the losses, it's possible to play poker for a living.

Why not just play in 5 $200 tournaments a day at Party Poker and clean house 5 times? That way your clearing what...five grand a day? Nothing to sneeze at. :P

That's assuming you can place in five consecutive tourneys per day, every day.

In reality it doesn't work like that. You're going to have dry runs of cards that can last for a LONG time and you need the bankroll to cover them.

Most pro players do not make their money playing tourneys - they play ring games as their bread and butter and tourneys for the media exposure and high payouts/low investment.

Partypoker is a good site, but be prepared for some really long waits for the play money tables.

PokerStars is a good site as well.

Party is more than Stars. About a year ago, Party poker had just about every new player on the net playing there, but since then they've learnt a thing or two and the money's not as easy anymore.

Stars has its share of fishes, but for the most part they're pretty solid players - especially above 5/10 limit.

I like party simply because of its interface and the single table tourneys.

I'm not I'm making sure that when you achive your dreams and play for a living, you WIN and are sucesfull. Better to know the ins and outs now than when you're struggling to put together a buyin for that tourney that you really have to win to stay alive.

No one plays well when they're on the ropes. Take away the financial worry of a few loosing sessions and you'll play your game well, win or lose.
