pc help? KB & mouse stopped working!

Has anyone here ever had your keyboard and mouse just stop working? My husband shut his pc down, went thru all the right channels, started it back up and his keyboard and mouse won't work at all now...... I put a completely different keyboard and mouse on it and it still won't work.

Everything else works fine, internet and all of it, but the kb and mouse won't.

He's running Windows XP

ANY help would be awesome, thisis driving me nuts.

Hey Tam

Are they USB? If so try switching them with a PS2 replacement and then check to see that the USB drivers in XP are working correctly.

not sure.... motherboard bad? One of mine did it too.... same thing... plus it would lock the system at random. So I yanked the keyboard and mouse out of the PS2 ports and switched them to straight USB. Solved it for me.

hit ctrl+alt+del or go on hardware manager

ok seriously just check the connections to or see if he just installed something that might have screwed it .. try hooking another keyboard or mouse to see if it would work

HAHAHAHAAaaaaaaa, you evil ass. LMAO

railz, it is just a serial mouse and kb, no usb to it. He has a USB printer and his wireless network thing is usb, but other than that, nothing usb.

MrPheer, it had been off for a couple of hours and when he went to turn it back on is when it went nuts. He SAID he didn't do anything different, no installs or anything.

A friend of his came over a few weeks ago to try and setup that remote assistance or some shit, that's the last thing that was installed and this was a few weeks ago.

DAMN, we can't lose this computer, that's where all of our important shit is. I use HIS D drive for MY storage!!! Damn damn damn!!
