My doctor just prescribed me Paxil because my OCD is getting out of hand.

Anyone have any experiences taking Paxil?

Been on it for 7 months and IM just lowering my dose to try and get off it.

Once you get used to it you will start to feel much better after a month or too it hsould fully kick in. But its been more than 8 weeks and you havent seen any positive effects talk to you doctor about trying somthing else.

I took it for a long time starting my senior year in college. It flatlines your emotions and sex drive but kills the anxiety. I eventually switched to something less harsh and then got off everything, all I needed was regular exercise and to quit smoking so much weed ;)

Ya, the doctor told me the first couple of weeks my anxiety might get worse. But as long as it kills it in the long run, it will be worth it.

No offence to your doctor.... but if you belive that you probably WILL have more anxiety, thinking about how he said you would.

I was on Paxil CR 12.5 and then 25mg and I had no increased anxiety (other than from me waiting for the anxiety it was supposed to casue)

As for dig420 saying it made him emotionless, I would have to say that did not happen to me at all. Infact I became loud and opinionated more often than before I took it....

Be careful with this stuff......

I have just come of 60mg for OCD etc.......

It is a very high dose, but I have had some MAJOR problems with withdrawl.

I spent 6 weeks in a phyc ward with the (withdrawl) side effects just before christmas.

Ask your Dr about withdrawl, you should really be well informed of this before you start taking this stuff.

It works, but the side effects may not be worth it.

The sexual thing is a REAL problem as well...... I didnt have an orgasm for over 2 years, and I make adult sites for a living!!

If your brain tends toward bipolar chemistry, SSRIs like Paxil will kick you into a manic phase and pronto. It will be fun for a few hours

SSRIs are really serious drugs with serious side effects. If your condition is screwing up your life, well by all means they are worth a try. But they *do* have serious side effects after long term use in most people, most notably they kill your sex drive. Not everyone, just 60-70%.

That can be good or bad depending on how you look at it.

You can get it up... It just take way longer to bust a wad. Some poeple like that, but I didnt. I get tired easliy.
