justice served!! thank god for stupid criminals!!

My parents recently had their house robbed while they were out of state taking care of selling my grandmothers house. just found out today that the idiot who stole them was stupid enough to pawn them at various local pawn shops and was apprehended along with his accomplice.

he is absolutely FUCKED! each rifle taken is a mandatory 15 years sentence. he took 13 rifles. HAHAHAHAHAHA! rot in hell you fuck!

only thing that sucks is that to get all the rifles back, is my dad has to reimburse the pawn shop what was paid out. but it releives me to hear they'll all be back in the family very soon.

kinda confusing story, i mean i understand, but confusing at 1st.

glad to hear your parents are gettin there shit back, but why should they have to pay the pawn shop. if anything the pawn shop should be charged with reciving stolen goods. or, give them there shit back free. id talk to a lawyer on that 1.

my dad said that once he's convicted the crook will be ordered to pay restitution (like my dad will ever see a penny from the courts...). he's just going to pay for them all to get everything back immediately and if the restitution is a lost cause, he couldn't care less.

thats a good point about receiving stolen goods, i should ask him about that.

yeah, im surprised they were recovered. most times it's basically a lost cause in getting your stolen goods back.

I dont understand why your dad would have to fork out money. The pawn shops are basically receiving stolen property. If they dont hand them back freely - as they werent available for sale anyway - then they become receivers and as such would be liable to much more significant penalties than the price of the gun ??? If the pawn shop was to sell them knowing they were stolen property - then they would be doubly fucked. Police should simply be able to walk in and seize the goods and hold them for your father pending trial at the minimum.

my mom says it has to do with the FL legislatature and what theyve penned out with the pawn shops. since the shops fingerprint and paperwork for each gun, they get to charge what was paid out to return the guns to their rightful owners.

i still can't beleive this idiot let himself get fingerprinted when he knew it could come back to bite him in the ass.

nope, he's mainly a antique gun collector, he enjoys restoring them. his 1864 smithfield rifle he picked up for $13 bucks is now valued over $2000.

why doesnt your dad buy the rifles back, and have his homeowner's insurance reimburse him for the expense. If they dont want to cooperate, a letter from an attorney can usualy get the job done.

it's a $500 deductible, i think in total the pawn shop paid out a little over $800.

Well shit that's not terrible at least. Fucking cheap ass pawn shops though. Sucks you have that law, here they have to give back whatever was stolen property. For that matter, even if unclaimed stolen property comes through the police take it and store it.

I would take this to a firearms disscussion site. Lots of knowledgable people regarding that. A lot of firearms dealers as well who would know the rules about this sort of thing.

Fuck the lawyer advice, call the ATF and get info for FREE.
