50 Frozen Pipes.

Sorry to hear that.

Why the fuck anyone wants to live in a frigid climate is beyond me. I left that bs 26 years ago. Never again.

Florida is the best place in the world to live. Its got everything.

SixNine 01-12-2004 10:34 AM

Fuck, what tough luck!
Same thing happened to my family's house in Vegas.
Forgot to turn off the water to the house when I left Internext a couple of years ago. Got a $300 water bill when no one was even in the house. TUrns out a faucet was leaking and flooded the whole house. Had to remove everything from the house to get rid of the threat of mold (Cost $60,000).

Hopefully you'll have better luck,

SixNine

Guru really sorry to hear about your house! Shit that would suck!! I can't even imagine..

SEGuru 01-12-2004 11:15 AM

Now its getting wierd.

The Insurance Agents are giving us the run around. Now they're telling us, it may be a couple days before we hear from the Claims Agent.

So we're still in limbo, and am still calling a hotel home. This sux.

Chichio 01-12-2004 11:37 AM

Damn, that sucks ass...sorry to hear that, man. :(

yeviking 01-12-2004 11:37 AM

damn..:(

JohnV 01-12-2004 11:42 AM

SEGuru,

That is horrible :-( I guess I'll never get the chance to visit you guys there now. Please call me if you have time or need anything from us at all. I hope everything works out quickly for you.

angeleyes 01-12-2004 11:43 AM

Sorry to hear about that....

You should opt for Fort Lauderdale. That is where I live.... the weather is great, there is a lot to do, etc.

Trax 01-12-2004 11:46 AM

sorry to hear

dicknixon 01-12-2004 11:48 AM

Wow . .that sucks really bad. Sorry to hear it.

Platinum Doug 01-12-2004 11:51 AM

SE and Brandy, I'm sooooo sorry to hear about your luck! It was great meeting you in Vegas - you're certainly "good people". I wish I had a house to offer you somewhere warm. All I have are my best wishes to you, and I'm afraid they're on their way from Toronto - so they'll be cold as hell when they arrive. :(

Sorry to hear about flood out.. I can't even imagine coming home to that. You must have lost your nut for a few minutes.

My next door neighbor has water pouring out from under his garage door right now as I type this... I think his outside hose bib was still on and its like 10 degrees out there.

Good luck with the recovery. :(

Gorny if he's home go over and bang on the door and let him know! Help minimize the damage.
If he's not home there are other things you can do, like calling the community association (if you have one) or even the housing authority or police.
They can get a locksmith to go in to the house with a plumber and get that stuff shut off before it ruins his whole house. Better to come home to $100 or so worth of locksmith/plumber bills than to $60k worth of water damage.

If it were your house, you'd want him to do the same thing and help you out while you were gone.

SEGuru, I think storing the stuff was the best idea - take a few months and live in both Ft Laud and AZ and see which you like better!

I lived in that armpit for 8 long years and 10 years before that in Austin (loved that city)...I fucking hate hot weather.

I hate florida worse than hot weather..lol. No mountains, no snow, no outdoor winter sports, sea salt rusts everything, I have met some of the most decrepit and fucked up people there...The only time i have to go back is to see my daughter graduate and that will be hell.

you can have Florida :1orglaugh

NetRodent 01-12-2004 12:08 PM

That sucks. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. However rather than dwell on the bad, try to look on the bright side. Now you've got an excuse to remodel the place and get new computers.

theharvman 01-12-2004 12:12 PM

Wow sorry to hear that! If you need any help finding a place in Phoenix I have a few calls place out there myself looking for homes!

VeriSexy 01-12-2004 12:14 PM

That really sucks :(

PattyeCake* 01-12-2004 12:18 PM

Daron, So sorry to hear about this ... Know my thoughts are with you and Brandy and please, don't hesiate if there is anything I can do! You got my numbers!

SEGuru 01-12-2004 05:00 PM

Hey all,

Your continued "well-wishes" are indeed warmly received.

Brandy ended up with the usual convention crud / cold following the show. This doesn't help, considering coming back from Vegas as tired as we normally are. hehehhee

We're still waiting for word from an adjuster, as there were tons of peeps hit with this kinda shit last week.

So, the debate continues where we are goingl Lots of good input on the Lauderdale/Scottsdale thing.

May come down to a coin toss! hehehehe

Peaches 01-12-2004 05:04 PM

Darin, most home policies will cover a hotel/other housing for a period of time (mine's 30-60 days). Be thankful you live in a relatively dry climate. Here when this happens, it's a battle to get rid of the mold that forms while trying to dry the house out.

And again, MAKE A PAPER TRAIL AND DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. :thumbsup

Ironhorse 01-12-2004 05:27 PM

SE and Brandy I hope everything works out for you guys :thumbsup I'm sure the Vegas flu doesn't help any, Brandy hang in there babe!

Sorry to hear about your troubles....that really sucks! I have lived in both scottsdale and miami, and I choose Miami.

The humidity isn't a problem if you live on the water,
the mosquitos aren't a problem with the salt water either, (only after it rains and there are puddles)
scottsdale is really nice, but it's very conservative and really BORING

:2 cents:

Good luck bud.....and get in touch if you pick fort lauderdale, you're welcome to come out on my boat anytime
(I'll use any excuse to take my boat out!:Graucho )

take care

OOOOOOOOH MY LITTLE FRIENDS ARE SOAKING TO THE BONES!

I feel so bad, you guys are too sweet a fucking folks for this shit to happen to you! What the fuck?

Definitely a sign to get the fuck out of that Noof stank god forsaken colder than fuck hick ass town! You two are warm hearted and belong in a warm and sunny state.

If you are taking votes, I vote for AZ cuz it's closer but then... I wouldn't mind having more friends to visit in Florida, he he he!

Best of luck with the insurance folks, I can guarantee dealing with them will be like passing a spiked watermelon size stone...but with lots of patience and lots of spit, an elephant can screw a bee. Moral of my story... anything can happen!

Love you both!
Leslie

Looking on the bright side:

2) Just got out of that long lease!

3) Just lowered your moving costs!

4) All new furniture, etc...

Your woman is on the phone riding me about the commercial so I must stop spreading my positiveness for now, he he he!

Hey, we don't have tarantulas. We have scorpions :-) Seriously, I have lived in both Florida and now I am in Phoenix. There are pros and cons to both. The things I love about Phoenix are these: Major airline hub (America West), within 5 hours drive time to; Vegas, San Diego, Mexico (45 minutes by plane). 2 - 3 hours drive to the mountains and skiing, or the Grand Canyon. Perfect place to mountain bike and hike. And just about every home has a pool and hottub outside which you can use year round, without being carried away by mosquitos or palmetto bugs. Oh and today it was in the upper 70's with hardly any humidity. Did I mention the sunsets? Phoenix/Scottsdale and surrounding cities, are really hopping these days. Lots of industry people are relocating here and it isn't quite as stuffy as one would think. I don't regret my cross country move one bit. If you have any questions or need any help should you decide to relocate here, don't hesitate to contact me.
Good luck to you on your insurance claim. I hope everything turns out for the best. :thumbsup

Hey...thanks for the great feedback.

As it turns out...can you believe this shit...the insurance company sent us the wrong Adjuster. So we have to wait another day now.

Ugh...the delays are what keep us from really deciding which direction to take.

Are you asking me if I can believe an insurance company is incompetent? Um, is this a trick question? :eek7

Seriously, you are more than welcome for the feedback. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
