Sure, it costs a lot more to live here but your access to more is unparalleled. Also, anyone making a mint here that keeps their entire busienss online is an idiot for not taking advantage of the opportunities a big and usually expensive city provides.

Actually you are wrong... Would you rather buy a 400 sqft condo in NYC for 500K and hope to sell it for 600K in a year or build 150K houses all day in Jackson Mississippi and make 30K a pop ? Smaller towns and cities in the south haven't caught up yet to the NYC's ofthe country nor the east coast / west coast. I can spread out 1mm over 5 - 10 projects and diversify and make more then you who would period, not to mention you would be limited to only being able to afford 1 or 2 at most. and if you pick a bad one, your burried. i do one bad one, i 'm diversified.

What you are taking about is conviences of a big city verus a small one. NOt the potential to make money. All you do in a big city is spend more to live there. If you want to the bling bling move to NYC and drop your 3K on renting a shit hole in the wall, or move to a southern city live like a king for 3K a month and the girls are hotter down here anyway!

you make 100K in NYC but it cost you 60K to live there are year, you only have 40K left over what you going to buy? a lucky dog ? :1orglaugh

you live in a smaller city, same type of aprt, your living expenses would be more like 20K, and you still have 80K left to invest with a lot of options....

3 million could cover me for 20-25 years after retirement.
House for 250k paid off couple cars for 60k. Rest is for food, gas, and clothes.

Only rich people can't live off of 5 mill. I don't need fancy shit to show off. Having my own home and reliable cars and food and a loving family is all i need.

But thats me :winkwink:

I'm not even talking the US. I'm moving out of the US at the end of this year anyway, and I can tell you you don't need much in some of these countries to live like a king. It doesn't take much. Ask anyone who has made the move, I bet they are living twice the life (quality) they had before.

Sure you may pass up on a few things you are used and little conveniences but who cares? There is a lot I can live without. I do not need a lot. My material possessions do not define who I am and I do not count my "riches" in dollars. :2 cents:

I'm not greedy, a million would do me just fine. Anyone who would like to the "Get rid of DWB" fund, please Paypal me and you'll never hear from me again. :thumbsup

He was a farmer. A simple man who saved his money. The day he went to get his new caddy, he went straight from the fields, in his work truck and his overalls covered in dirt. Thing is, he had enough money for two caddys in his pocket - in cash.
The caddy salesman was clearly looking down his nose at my GG the whole time, sneering at him, kept trying to convince him that perhaps he should keep his truck for a while. A well-dressed couple came in and the salesman shot over to them, never to give my GG another glance. My GG left.

An hour later he pulled up in front of the cadillac dealership in a brand new top-of-the-line Lincoln, the most expensive one you could buy. The salesman came out with his jaw hanging open. GG asked him if he had ended up selling that couple a car. The salesman told him no.
GG smiled at him, pulled the rest of the cash out of his pocket and sat it on the seat next to him, and said "Too bad... the fellow over at the Lincoln dealership treated me like a king, and he's got a customer for life. See if you can learn something from that, Sonny."

That man could've bought and sold the entire town he lived in, but the salesman couldn't see past his overalls. Don't judge a book by its cover!

Exactly... nice post

BTW for the people that say you can't like with 1 million, (tho I kinda agree with the value of dollar nowadays), you should try too look at the lifestyle costs in other countrys...

Question is ... how many have a life, enjoy it and are happy.

I could be a millionaire and maybe more but I chose to live a simple and full life. Filled with travel, great friends and family that love me and some free time AWAY from the computer.

I had more money before my relationship and me moving to Toronto but I had no life, was basically unhappy and drinking wayyy more then I am now ;-))

Then again, to each is own ;-)

Don't get me wrong I love spending money and run my own business as well with employee's so I need to make and always looking to make more for the company.

TheDoc 02-07-2005 02:03 PM

Hmmm.. My companies first M was made in .... 2000? Either 99 or 2000, can't remember. I made at least a million every year since. Personally though, I don't have a million in my personal bank account, never have. Over half my staff makes more a year than I do.. I have a nice house, car, and live a very relaxed life, I don't need millions to have all the fun I want.

My personal dept is the one personal CC that I have, ($200 used up on it) which I'm pretty sure most program owners can't say that is all the dept they have.

Judging from your interview, you were planning on staying put for a while. Give it 10 years and the house will be 2.5 million easy.

rowan 02-13-2005 12:56 AM

I'm just curious why many players prefer to pay with cash only, and not a credit card? Don't you have interest free days?

<-- not a player by any means but I do have a card with 55 interest free days which gets paid in full each month. I get charged no CC interest, but earn a little extra because the spare cash sits in an interest paying account until it's swept over to the CC on the due date.
