My Outlook Express is Fucked!

It just started acting up this week. Every time I send mail, I get an error window. Then the email gets stuck in my outbox. I kept trying to send it but it just kept displaying the error & I found out that I was sending the same emails to like 10 times. GRRRR. So now I have to manually delete every single email I send from my outbox or it will keep trying to resend itself. Any ideas?

Error messages help to determine why they are not sending out .. what is the error you get?

Dont know if it helps but empty your folders.

It could also be a server error, check your server settings. Hell it can even be your isp if you use them for outgoing mails.

That's the thing - It pops up the error window but there is no actual message in the box.

I just did a windows update last night - it had an update for Outlook but am still having the same problem. Maybe this will work.

same here, my Outlook again started getting my mails from my mail server from the time i started using my account. it sucks coz i have 12k emails and my existing rules just didn't work to filter out the spams i previously created. im currently using IHateSpam filter software to help me out fix this problem.

regarding your problem, you may to check with your ISP for any mail server issues.

Best 'free' client you can get.

One of my clients is having this same problem.

I'd be VERY interested to see if someone can offer a solution.

Outlook won't allow him to delete any of the messages stuck in his outbox either!

Eudora is a good client . The Paid version has
spam filtering enabled. Pocomail is also good.

If you are thinking about switching to an other
o/s I would try pine or mutt. (both text based]

Do you have shell access to your mailserver or to the isp's
mailserver / shell machine?

If so you can login with ssh and try pine (a unix text based
mail client) and get rid of the spam e-mails and then retry
collecting your e-mail with outlook.

You might even install some spamfilters on your mailserver
so the spam is filtered on your server.

Some isps provide this service already to customers. But
a good unix admin can easy install it on your server.

UPDATE: This seemed to start happening right after my Norton Antivirus subscription service expired. I haven't renewed it yet so I don't know if this fixes the problem - but I did read some info online that seemed to confirm that changes to your Norton configuration can screw up your outgoing Outlook messages - so I just assume that is it.
But anyways, fuck Outlook, I just switched everything over to Eudora & couldn't be happier!

dont use outlook express!

it is teh most uncomplient email program out there and M$ pulled almost all of the developers of it off of that project because its a POS.

ANYTHING is better than outlook express

I really don't know why people even use LookOut (or M$ in general ), you are just asking for a whole host of problems.

I've been using an internet based email client for almost 2 years and it kicks the big ass. http://norada.com/

With it I can check my email anywhere I can find an internet connection (just like Yahoo/Hotmail). It's clean, has no advertisement and the most reliable mail client I've ever used.

I use the calendar, contacts and bookmarks every day - never had a problem with it. Take the demo for a spin!
