Yahoo dumping Google?

Anderson Cooper on CNN just said Yahoo will be dumping Google in the next few months. He said Yahoo has spent $2billion developing its own search technology. Think Yahoo will give Google any competition?

Yahoo has a lot of traffic and inktomi's not that bad... combined with google going commercial I think things will be interesting. Google still has an awesome brand even if their results haven't really been up to par lately.

It will be interesting to see what develops from this. I thought that Yahoo had mentioned last year that they would be getting rid of their partnership with Google.

Yahoo existed long before Google, back then they used Inktomi.

Yahoo used to be the #1 search engine/directory, then they let that little Google logo on their site that said "powered by" and they lost their place in the search market.

Yahoo also bought Overture, and Overture bought FAST and AltaVista, so they don't have to just use Inktomi, even though Yahoo also purchased that.

Plus, Yahoo has been using their own results for a long time, phasing out the Google ones, this will just be the official end of it.

I hope they don't put up pure Inktomi, because even though I rank well in Inktomi - the engine is truly crap, and I want to have another basket for my search engine eggs again.

Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.
Let me repeat... A 120 x 60 button and no more that 3 lines of DEFAULT SIZE AND COLOR text.
