Thinking about trying newsgroups, no spam just post some pics with a small url on them. Are they worth the effort? Has anyone gotten good results from them?

People downloading from newsgroups are computer literate. They can getr tons of content FREE ( full movie downloads, full series of pics , ...) .
They will not join a website when they can get their daily fix free.
Ask around how many people know about newsgroups... Maybe 2 out of 10 ... You want to market your stuff to the 8 , not to the 2....

But I can't figure out how he can breathe or type , at the same time .... -

If you post a few messages a day traffic is shit..maybe a few hits
I posted several 100's a day and signups where average even in 2000...2004 will surely not be better

The reason I ask is a friend told me he can do a 100 extra signups a week using newsgroups so I figure it would be something to explore but based the reaction here maybe not lolComment

They used to work well with the eraser type software awhile back.. Havent' messed with it in a couple years though..Comment

I filled up two CD's with fucking hot series from a site I love! (sorry, I'm a pirate). All this in an hour.
But...if you got red hot serious content and people want the latest, that's a different storyComment

Watch out if you post to newsgroups, most of your content licences do not include that. I can only think of 1 provider offhand that allows it and it is only for a small fraction of the photos that you buy.

I shoot all the content so thats not a problem but after reading all the comments .I think we are just going to focus on what we are currently doing(we increased revenue by 38 % in 2003) and get the dvd company off the ground.Comment
