The big bang is the decimal point in PI

3.14159 ...

3*big bang*14159 ...

And in any case is wasn't a BIG bang it was a tiny pop, smaller than an atom.

Now I've solved this age old problem I'm off to polish my collection of silver dildo's.

i think its just beyond our mind.

Its like trying to teach a dog calculus. Their mind just isnt wired for it.

The giant that owns our "coffee table" universe is thinking of firing up his skill saw and cutting up our "universe" for fire wood in about ten minutes, or 166 years our time.

i firmly believe that too. then again i've done over 250 hits of acid.

What is more mind boggling than the big bang theory is the ignorance in peoples arguments against it.

People dont understand that our 'real world' situations do not apply on grand scales and especially, sub-atomic levels.

At least educate yourselvs a bit on the subject before making an argument against it.

I'm guessing it will.

so what other theory is there? when they thought the world was flat it was because they didn't have the knowledge to know what was going on, now they have science and can see whats going on.

truth is nobody knows, they can only speculate.

The older and wiser I get the more spiritual I'm becoming. I'm a firm believer in science and scientific theory, however my gut instinct tells me there is way more to the Universe than we as Earthlings are seeing and even capable of understanding and comprehending.

So in answer to your question I have to say Big Bang my ass. It goes way way beyond that simplistic concept. Personally, I'm beginning to think it never really began at all, it just always was, like time and space themselves, there is no begining and there is no end.

Interesting to note Heaven is described in the same way, an eternal state of being with no beginning and no end.

Hmmm. Makes you wonder.

MetaMan 01-04-2004 07:49 PM

i do belive god created people, or a higher being started the ball rolling,

adam and eve and the bible i do not really belive in,

i also do not belive we evolved from apes, i belive we were our own seperate species that evolved and not cross linked from apes.

I on the other hand, have done zero hits of acid.

And I believe we exist in a coffee table.

Thats good because noone is suggesting otherwise.

FlyingIguana 01-04-2004 08:14 PM

if you were god, what the hell were you thinking when you made humans? does he have a playstation up there and he's playing a big sim earth or something? if this is what he comes up with, there's something seriously wrong here...

KRL 01-04-2004 08:24 PM

I'm going with this philosphy. Whatever the Universe is really all about, I'm not going to be able to ever figure it out, nor is anyone else, and it doesn't seem like its meant to be figured out anyway, so why struggle with it. Its too vast and staggering in its dimensions and scope and trying to think it out overload's your mind's circuits every time without fail.

I often look up into the sky, gaze out over the ocean watching a beautiful sunrise and just say thank you whoever you are or whatever this is for all the beautiful things in the world my eyes can see and enjoy. I will do all I can to build and enhance the beauty, serenity and peacefulness during my short stay here.

I believe in keeping things simple and this strategy works in that respect.

Meta Ridley 01-04-2004 08:25 PM

I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use.

The only Big Bang i know about is when i was really drunk one night and i picked up the office girl, I gave here a really BIG BANG, anything else from that i dunno i'm just a moron living in the tiny world.

SomeCreep 01-04-2004 09:17 PM

Theres nothing to believe, its science fact.

Science fact? You've got to be kidding with that bold statement.

Science in what period of time. Science 500 years ago had the the Sun rotating around a flat earth for christ's sake.

And I'm sure Science 5,000 years in the future will look back on us as prehistoric simpletons who had it all wrong as well.

Relativity only states that the MEASURED velocity of light is the same for all observers . If the universe had edges , nothing in GR would limit their velocity.
Anyways , the standard model of the "big bang" does not demand that the universe has edges or a center .

Ever heard of Stephen Hawking? Know why he's so famous? Because he proved the "big bang" theory using Einstein's theory or relativity. If you believe in the validity of mathematics and physics, then the "big bang" is fact. :)

pradaboy 01-05-2004 01:35 AM

if you believe in the big bang... where did all the shit come from that made the bang???
any1 who believes this is a moron, read the Bible!

CDSmith 01-05-2004 02:57 AM

Edges? Don't show me your steenkin' edges!

If the universe has edges.... what's on the other side of those "edges"??

KRL 01-05-2004 10:04 AM

The bottom line is its all beyond our comprehension. No one knows for sure what its all about out there. If there are hidden dimensions. Other planes of reality. Who the fuck really knows?

Anyone who says they got the entire Universe all figured out including Steven Hawking is full of themselves.

That's an ignorant bottom line for you to make up. Just because you think it's beyond your comprehension, doesn't mean it's beyond the comprehension of people who have actually studied the subject for the greater part of their lives.

It's not just a "simplistic concept" that someone made up when he was bored. There is a lot of evidence (despite what you want to believe) that backs it up. Also, I believe the big bang also states that time and space are part of the universe, so neither was present until the universe was created.

That doesn't seem very odd to me; writing about an eternity of everlasting life would be an easy way to make people feel good and happy about their religion. It would be much more convincing than telling people when they die they are gone for good.
