Anyone ever TRADEMARK anything?

How long does the process take?

How long does it take for them to initially approve/reject it?

You can place a TM on it and that will give you protection. But don't put an R (registered trademark) until its been officially registered or you can lose some legal rights to it.

To register "Dave Cummings", it took 14-15 months and cost me $750 in attorney/other fees.

Cool deal Dave

Yours seems like it was pretty cut & dry.

I doubt anyone but you was out there doing what you do with the name "Dave Cummings"

They will probably get me for more on mine because there is a bit of a situation with it... possibly a confilict.. not sure really I need to ask an attorney.

Initial patent filling fee is $330 if you do it yourself I think.

Does anyone know of any decent patent/trademark attorneys? (Besides Ber-man of course )

See my problem is... well consider this...

- America's Online (R)
- America's ISP (R)
- America's Hosting (R)

Imagine the trademarks above were registered by AOL (afaik they are not,.... and oddly enough "America Online" doesn't appear to be either?? - though they have a tol of *AOL* trademarks)

Anyway...

So they have the above registered, primarly to cover cover hosting and internet access, etc. on a global scale.

And I want to register:

- America's Basketweavers

And provide various services specifically to the basketweaving industry. Those services including software, design, web programming and hosting (but hosting would not be the focus of the company, it would just be part of some of the other solutions).

So I wonder if there would be a conflict.

What do you think?
