I need some help with a weird PS7 problem...

Okay, let me try to explain this...

I opened a new project.. made a new layer, and went to type some 10 point text(with no alterations in the character pallette) and out comes 18 point type. I know what 10pt and 18pt text is supposed to look like and what PS7 is calling 10 point is definitely too large...

so, then I open an existing psd file with small text, open it up and select a text layer and it says 10pt, and it really is 10pt... so I copy that text layer to my new document(the one with the problem) and now this 10pt text is being caled 4.35pt. weird...

so, I reset the tool... doesn't fix it... now all my new documents have this problem... but any existing psd does not.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? anyone have an idea what I can do to get it back to normal?

Thanks in advance.
