Spam solutions, got any?

You know what I've often wondered. We all know we all receive tons of junk mail to our home mailboxes courtesy of the USPS and no one is looking to outlaw that as of yet that I know of although some people bitch about it.

With all of the technology that we have today is it not possible to incorporate a similar way of handling spam, your regular mail at home comes in an envelope now why is it not possible to incorportate a wrapper to spam that gives an indication of what one might expect to see when opening? So that children are protected and people who don't want spam can easily eliminate spam without having to be subjected to it totally. Would it not also increase effectiveness of it?

Does anyone receive porn spam that isn't interested in porn and they buy because it's so convincing, I highly doubt it, so these people would be likely to open the "wrapper" if it indicated adult content was inside thus increasing effectiveness. It would save children from viewing at the expense of not knowing. And it could be a reasonable way to allow spamming to exist in a legal form. Of course there are always people that fuck this up, but I'm talking about as a whole, not the assholes.

Is this just a really stupid ideas or could companies start to incorporate this idea on their own to fight the coming laws and regulation of spam to make it more friendly?

This thread certainly took off and such an excellent idea I offered up too.

That's the problem I have with spammers, not the large influx of mail, but the fact that the messages themselves just piss people off and don't meet their selling potential.

Now that everyone is throwing in random gibberish to get past content analysis and all, it makes it even worse. Subjects are a big one, especially with porn. You're not going to offend someone giving them a work-from-home or preapproved credit card surprise message, but you are going to piss most people off sending them porn. If they're blocking subjects, than they're probably most likely not going to click your link anyway.

FWIW, I work at a spam filtering company... I've seen it all ;)

If anyone were to do something wild and crazy like read this shit then they would know I wasn't asking how to solve my spam problems or looking for a good solution for me to use to spam people.

That is it. I keep gettiing spams with subjects of:

hottest internet amateur
hot Blowjobs Online
nighttime affairs
cheating wives

over and over again once a day.

And the kicker is that with HTML off it is two links, neither of which work - including the "opt out".

What the hell is wrong with these people? It is nothing to me if I could simply click the link and REALLY be taken off the list and not have it sold to someone else. That's it. Even though I am in the adult industry I'm sure plenty think like me. To be honest, if I caught the guy doing this, I'd probably break his nose on the spot. No shit.

If you can't take care of spam by using an anti-spam software, you need to retake Internet for Newbies 101.

Actually I like this idea a lot, because I'm not exactly against the idea of spam, its just advertising and there is no way we can end it entirely, but if the spam I received was actually targeted towards my interests, not only would it not bother me as much, but the morons sending it to me would have a much better chance of making a sale.

Hrm, this is actually a very interesting idea.

I never said that I wasn't able to stop it. I don't need software. A simple addition to a filter will do. But that wasn't my point. My point was that I wouldn't care if he had a true working opt out. And his mailings do no one any good considering the links do not even work in non-html mode.

I do not block things until I have to though. I like to see who spams me within the industry just out of curiousity sake - who honors the opt outs, methods, products, etc. If someone spams me after I opt out for instance, I won't do business with them again because I consider them dirty. Plenty out there think the same I am sure.
