I'm starting a paysite - Need Some Help

Hey guys I was wondering if you could help me out (those of you who own their own paysites or are well familiar with legal issues).

I plan on shooting my own content and basically need to know what contracts, paperwork and anything else that I need to keep my ass safe. Since I can't afford a lawyer, I was wondering if any of you guys can point me in the right direction. I need to know what contracts models need to sign, model release forms, etc so that I don't get fucked over.

Anyone who can help me out, much appreciated, Thanks

-Paulk

Don't is the best advice. Get some experience 1st! Do a Free Site, TGP (like we need a another one), or AVS. You'll just be wasting money.

Change you handle from P-K to anything else IMHO. We have a PK - Persian Kitty from PersianKitty.com. If you can do as well as she's done with a TGP, you'll be Rich.

Others will expand on this! I am so fuckin hung over!

Right on. Verotel can accept American Express.

You might consider hiring a consulant to mentor ya through the process.

That is if you're dead set on doing this and ya have $ to cover every thing.

I tried to start with a paysite and sonn learned that I didn't know shit. So I dropped the idea for awhile. TGPs have been a learning experience esp about traffic, SEO and the like.

avs is not worth it anymore IMO

I lost most of my income recently to Adult Check

others will argue differently

I just started my first paysite with Verotel and it's selling pretty well

good luck.. just make sure you can feed traffic to it... make tgps, free sites, avs sites, fake tgps to promote it...

my site has little cost though, I just mostly used all my content from former Adult Check Gold sites

First I would set up an AVS site. www.ProAdult.com will provide you with webspace and a payment system.

The cheap option is to buy content.

An AVS will let you make mistakes and help you gain experience for a 'real pay site' without making costly mistakes on a real paysite.

As for models, you will need a model release you can find copies of one all over the web free), plus get as many copies of ID from the model as you can (i.e. passport, birth certificate and so on~). Make sure you have copies of these.

Shooting your own content in the short-term is expensive, compared to buying content, as for the cost of one shoot (model, travel, film, camera gear, studio and other costs), you can buy several sets of shots for the same price. But in the long term if you do your own content at least your site will be exclusive. But doing your own content is also time consuming and a lot of hassle.

The question you should ask, is what is special about your site compared with other peoples. If your answer is nothing much, then you will struggle. If you say yes, my site is different and better because...." then you have a chance.

You got a start. there is a ton of useful info already. What should become clear is that there is a ton of work to do.

BTW a good TGPwill earn ya $1 - $2K per month. To beat that you'd have to be one of the elite. So many not even doin $500/mo.

The good news about the adult Biz is the Sky is the limit. Just find the thread about Steve's (from lightspeed) new house.

Exactly what I thought. You will soon learn that shooting porn is a little more than pointing a camera at a naked girl.

So lets have a look at this. No experience shooting porn, no experience at running/building a paysite and no money. Sounds like a recipe for success.

And don't try and fool us that you will be shooting exclusive, the surfer is firstly intersted in whether is stimulates him enough to get his dick and his credit card. Exclusive crap is still crap.

You got to have $5,000 to start and shoot for yourself. Camera plus the first 10 modeling sessions or are you going to shoot a whole site in one day and pay the model $100 if she brings her own camera?

I have done and still am doing AVS sites. The paysite I plan to do is different from any other sites. Anyone can recommend a good video camera for shooting content ?

If you set up a small AVS, with bought content, it is very cheap to do.

Even if you never make any money from it, you will lean a great deal.

www.ProAdult.com and others are new AVS systems. These are now much improved on the old style of AgeCheck and so on, which I have felt were out of date a while ago.

The problem with AVS sites is that traditionally, many used to be bad. I mean really bad. Some and some still are) are sites with about 40 pics or even less, and these were poor quality and often stolen from proper sites. So many people are reluctant to join because of this, but as better AVS sites come out, this is changing.

$5K is really the low end. Camera equipment could eat the $5K fast. A pay site will need more than just stills.

You could get by with a Coolpix 5700 to start with for stills, that's about a $k+ with extra battery, flash etc.

Point is, you'll be buying content or have a ton of charge backs. A CC processor will want to see your site 1st. They'll want enough there to think you might make it. I started with ccBill and that's my only exprience to date.

Exception is, your girlfriend is a TS and is a knockout. Plus he/she makes all her ownoutfits. Now you have a bit of a niche and might beable to do somthing on a sho-hahahahahahahaha That's only if you had the knowledge to bring it to market. Haven't heard a clue that you do yet.

In truth, this depends on your budget.

Many sites I have seen make do with cheap DV cameras, as the files are reduced anyway for web use, so you may find opting for a 3 chip one pointless, although the quality will be better.

You may also want to think about buying DV lights as this will also give you better results and an external microphone. Many low budget shoots look worse due to the lighting.

Do not rely on built in lights on DV cameras, as these are not always that great.

In some ways, a cheap DV camera can be an advantage as these are often smaller and easer to use. Also the JVC ones are very well built, and can take a good thrashing (you can drop them without breaking them).

I find Sony DV tapes can be a pain, and so I would suggest to you not to use them.

An external mike is a must (unless you use an expensive DV camera). You will hear the difference greatly.

You're 1st post in this thread made you sound like one.

You'l find those here who agree that TGPs suck. But its part of the mix.

If you're so smart, then why ask for advice??

And if $2K is easy to beat, then you sure the hell don't need my advice. Good luck.

For ease, you can find many content providers do some sort of content hosting. By this, they host the content (films/photographs) and you pay them X amount a month. Your members will access this through your members area.

If I was you, I would set up a site like this. This way you get instant content, and all you have to do is get members to your site.

This way, you can then spend some of your profits each month shooting content, and after a few months, maybe a year, you will have built up enough content for your own site.

Ya thats a good idea to help retain members while starting out. Once i get a good startup amount of exclusive content thats what I will probbaly do.

Because you came in calling yourself P-K (a rip on PK IMHO) and you had all of 76 posts. And it sounded to me like a newbie wandering in. The wording seemed to support that assumption. That is all fine. So I responded as if that is what you were.

My intenent is not to get into a flame contest with ya.

I really do wish luck with your paysite(s)

I will pick up information in the thread too that is usefull. Have to buy new camera equipment. Am moving towards a paysite again. Will finance that effort through a number of TGPs I have. One of which is pussyluvers. Watching AVS companies fold scared me off on that front, but still might do that soon for the experience.

I was aiming at the absolute minimum. Realisticly if a guy is going to start shooting for himself he will need at least the content from 10 shoots and the equipment.

P-K you are a noob, because if you had been buying content for two minutes you would know what documentation is required. Even pirates stealing images know that.

You don't have money for a lawyer but $2K a month is easy to beat. How do you know, when you do not know what 2257 documents should come with the content you put up on a site?
