Mach10/natnet Update

Apologies to Lensman for using his board as a "news service" but since there have been people asking, I wanted to answer questions here....

To recap, NationalNet has acquired Mach10 Hosting. All Mach10 clients are now NatNet clients and will be welcomed to our family with open arms.

In the middle of the night last night all of the servers were gracefully shut down, unracked, loaded onto a private cargo jet, flown from Austin Texas to Atlanta, Georgia and are being unloaded as we speak. During the move all of the DNS and Routing processes were implemented into the NatNet network so that when the servers are booted they will be live and answering requests. While one crew is unloading the hardware, another crew is racking the servers. Once they are racked then they will be brought back up just as gracefully as they were brought down. This is a tedious process, but one that is necessary to insure that data is not lost in a hardware panic.

Our entire staff of Tech Support people are on site and working to get these servers up and running as quickly as possible. I wish I could tell you exactly what time to expect them to be live, but at this point it would just be a guess. Just suffice to say that we are well into the downhill side of this move. I am looking forward to these servers being live very, very soon.

I will try to post on this board as the process unfolds, but I will be more concentrating on cracking my whip on my System Administrators

For all new NatNet clients, we appreciate your not tying up our System Admins with phone calls asking when the servers will be back up....rest assured that we are working hard....however, if you feel like there is a need to call us we are here and available to you 24x7x365 at 1.877.471.9075 (Internationally at +1.770.471.9075)

Thanks for your time and my apologies for taking up the board with this.

The first good thing is that this is not the first server move that NatNet is doing and they have experience with things like that. (I have been with NatNet since Tom Blanchard's time).

So if you are a former Mach10 client, don't worry and go get a madburger or something.

any info on the pricing? Are we going to be forced into a contract based setup with higher prices now that mach10 clients are with natnet? or is natnet going to honor the previous mach10 prices.

We will honor all pricing that you currently pay, and I can assure you that there will not be any price hikes. That would not be good business on our part to do that

You can contact me at bill.vanvort AT natnat DOT com if you have any other questions

Thanks

Bill

We aren't CJ.com. Our biggest site is ConsumptionJunction.com and people call it CJ.

To add to the confusion our new system: dollars.com, is like cj.com for adult.

We also have nothing to do with Circle Jerk!

Branding is a bitch.

Well, let's see...in no particular order, we host Lighspeed, Shaw Internet, Platinum Bucks, Karups, AL4A, Sweet Entertainment, Shemp...just to name a few

And there's a good reason all these big boys call NationalNet their home

Good to hear . . I too was on Natnet a long time ago, when Tom Blanchard had run it . . hell, i even shared the natnet suite with Tom at the flordia convention . . (my room got screwed up) . i have been with 5 other hosting companies it those 5 years, and find it pretty wierd that I am ending up exactly where i started.

I guess you didn't read Sean's email. Yes, or so it says.

SweetT, thank you for the update. I'll check back. Please bring my server up soon. <pouty lips>

One thing we try to avoid is "packages" because it limits your choices. We prefer to tailor our pricing based on individual customer needs. You can contact sales AT natnet DOT com with your needs and someone will create a custom price for you based on those needs.

yes. pissed does not describe our current situation.

the only remaining boxes at mach10 that we had that were of importance were our video trailer server, our tgp, and our sig server. thus my sig doesnt work and all of the sites we have have non functioning trailers.

who should i invoice?

i have 15 or 20 boxes at webair right now. i'm thrilled with their service drguile.

my understanding is that they were moving close to 200 servers... but it is unfortunate that this happened during a work week... but within 48 hours it will all have been forgotten

No. It will not be forgotten. A couple years ago another host I dealt with moved their NOC from New York to Orlando. But they cloned the harddrives and installed them on new boxes (instead of moving the server across the country). There was plenty of notice of the move and there was hardly any downtime.
My server (and every other mach10 customer) has been down more than 14 hours now and still counting. Who knows when everything will be back online. Who's going to compensate us for all the lost revenue and extra work handling complaints and restoring everything back to normal? The way NationalNet is handling this totally sucks. They could have least given us ample warning so we could prepare. A few hours notice at the end of business hours is simply inadequate. Totally unprofessional in my opinion!!

When Tony talked to me about the way they were going to be performing the move I was at first skeptical, however, a move like this is USUALLY much better than moving things over piece by piece and experiencing weeks of problems.

Are we affected? Hell yeah, we've got no corporate email server and our freehost has been down. Will the move be the quickest and best possible way to do it? I sure hope so

I agree Toolz. I also think Tony had no choice. The deal was announced yesterday (Dec 29th). That leaves three days before year end to get everything moved. No time for a no-downtime move.

Sean and Terry at Mach10hosting have always provided me with excellent service and I wish them and their families all the best in the coming new year.

I hear NationalNet is a very good company and I look forward to doing business with them.

Hey Everybody....

Just a quick update. I have not had time to read this thread so forgive me if I am ignoring anyone...I will come back and catch up when we are done with getting these servers back online.

We have all been feverishly working to get things back up and running smoothly. As it always goes we have experienced a slight glitch that the Network Engineers and System Administrators are working through as we speak. I can't say exactly when it will be done, but it should not be much longer now. We are absolutely on the downhill side of this move.

More later...

Thanks for your understanding.

Another update:

The network is up and stable.
About 80% of the servers are up and stable.
The remaining 20% are being dealt with by our System Administrators to get them back running smoothly.

Sorry to be so short...more updates will follow.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.
