People have been saying shit like that to me since 97.. use this to be pro... use that... yadda yadda yaddda..

it's fucking bullshit.

I started doing pornsites in PSP and HotDog, and I still do pornsites in newer versions PSP and HotDog.

no point.... just negating your point. :)

you claim "x" amount of years in PSP.... I counter.

I've used many a software.... Windows Draw..... hell, all the way back to the first run of MS Paint. Means absolutely nothing if you're not able to adapt. Those that cannot change and adapt, die.

FWMX is superior for web work. Period. PS is great.... always has been. But it it far too overbearing for the task at hand. And PSP simply doesn't measure up. It's a tool, to be used in the early stages.,... I use it for browsing directories only. Perfect for that.

Step up.... or step off.

On a side note, I'm finding some humor and pleasure that you and I are the only ones engaged in this level of the discussion....

that says something. You and I both know it bro. :winkwink:

From what I have read (not all the posts) it looks like im in the minority. I cant think of anything you can do in ps that I can do in FW. Atleast nothing i have tried to do yet. Its very powerfull and very fast, but damn if i can find many pros using it, oh well, Ill still use fireworks, it does what I need it to do.. :thumbsup

you have zero business in this thread.

shouldn't you be submitting a fucking gallery or something?

Amputate Your Head 12-30-2003 02:53 AM

For you doubters, I would say, my non-existant portfolio speaks for itself. 100% done in Macromedia FW & DW.

No, there is no url. If you don't know, then consider yourself a clueless dumbass. If I was to actually make a portfolio today, it'd take me three months to put it together.

If you're in the know..... you know.

Classic GFY.
I'm not gonna piss... followed by piss.

katsuki 12-30-2003 04:25 AM

for me: photoshop and illustrator
if i want to put some different vector shapes in, i draw in illustrator and bring it into photoshop and fuckaround with it...

I'm curious about fireworks mx though, as some people seem to swear by it, i wouldn't totally bash it until i had given it a go.

Roald 12-30-2003 04:29 AM

PS over here, but I must admit I never realy looked closer at fireworks.

Raf1 12-30-2003 05:08 AM

I started using photoshop when 4.0 came out and I'm used to it. I haven't really tried Fireworks.

Jarmusch 12-30-2003 05:09 AM

For simple text logos I find FireWorks alot easier to work with. :2 cents:

sweet7 12-30-2003 08:05 AM

Photoshop although Fireworks is easier to learn and get started with IMO.

SoundMan 12-30-2003 08:17 AM

I use fireworks mx 2004 and PSP 7.4

PS take a long time to learn and load.

although PS has killer effects!

BTW i am not a designer.

Ironhorse 12-30-2003 08:27 AM

I started out using Fractal Painter years ago, at the time it blew PS out of the water introducing multiple layers, undo levels and many other features that took Adobe years to develop, as well as natural media painting tools, shape integration like in Illustrator, full 30 frames per second animation editing capabilities, joint online projects (in 1996!) and much more.

But after years of Adobe market domination, Painter sold to Corel and now sucks ass, I gave it up and use PS mostly but I will give FW a try for sure after this thread.

That's exactly why you should try FWMX - it has all the vector tools you'll need (and ways to combine objects), and you also get tools such as eraser, blur, smudge etc etc. Everything well organized and accessible in one or two clicks.

For those who mentioned Photoshop effects, open fireworksMX, go to Edit/Preferences/Folders, and there you can import PS effects (Photoshop Plugins setting).

For someone above who mentioned adobe.com site - it's nothing special from what I see, the most attractive part was made in MACROMEDIA flash, those dropdown menus can be easily made in FW, and the rest can be even notepad (not to mention DW).

For webdesign - macromedia rules.
We're not doing print work, billboards and whatnot.

VideoJ 12-30-2003 09:10 AM

One more for Fireworks MX. Very easy to learn and high quality results. Plus easy to change a design later if you need to.

Yeah... back when hacking was really simple... mostly you just tried every single phone number possible and then just called into the other computer. No need for a user account, no one would ever possibly know that number existed ;)

You meen they didn't use LiveMotion for those flash effects? Ohh that is right, they put their tail between their legs and hoped we all forgot about LiveMotion...

Photoshop but i'm not good with it.

Elli 12-30-2003 12:56 PM

I do all my work myself (and hubby helps a bit) but I use Photoshop primarily for the graphics and Dreamweaver for the site design. I tried Fireworks but couldn't really get the hang of it a few years ago. Now that I know flash though, I think I'll go back and give it another go. I'm just not that graphically-minded. Give me some tables to fill and I'm a happy girl. :) (as you can see from my site)

I'd love it if some people could post sites they've done and state which program they used. Like this is my site blalblah.com and I designed the front page with blah blah.

I'm sorry Amp, but I don't know intuitively which sites are yours. The sig banner looks sweet, though. :)
